Nov 30, 2020 Man Em needs to make more music that you can vibe to, while still being lyrical. He was better at that in the beginning of his career.
Nov 30, 2020 Agreed. Those moments of brilliance are why the hiphop community hold Em in such high regard.
Nov 30, 2020 Same thing with royce "Slap up a cop and then snatch 'im out of his uniform Leave him wit' his socks, hard bottoms and bloomers on And hang him by his balls from the horn of a unicorn" this is a master class in lyricism
Nov 30, 2020 Been saying this for so long. Less focus on being overly lyrical and more focus on the actual music and how he sounds.
Nov 30, 2020 Yeees. And since you've already mentioned No Regrets earlier, just compare that song to My Name Is for an example: Notice how laidback My Name Is sounds? I mean props to Em for all the improvements he's already made, his calm voice and the flow on No Regrets do really sound good. But I think the last thing he could work on is to phase out rapping too many sentences in those bars. (He doesn't have to do it on EVERY track though, most of the times it works.)
Nov 30, 2020 I actually do agree to some extent that he shouldn't worry about having a message on every song for a bme2 or whatever but I understand that might not be what he wants and I respect it
Nov 30, 2020 Tbh even on No Regrets he sounds off to me. Not as off putting as some other songs but still. I just think the hook is great. It's hard to describe. It started on MMLP2 and has been a constant problem ever since. Some songs it's his flow which is on and off and sounds terrible. On other songs the flow isn't as bad but there's just something about his voice that doesn't sound natural. Like he needs to chill. There's also the fact that he tries too hard to be lyrical when most of the time it's not necessary. He's more technical than he used to be but that's about it. The content for the most part has went to s---. Same thing with my ability to enjoy his verses on a musical standpoint. It's just impossible to vibe to. I don't know, man. In all honesty, I can barely listen to anything from MMLP2 onwards.
Nov 30, 2020 I understand what you're saying but I definitely feel like mtbmb is a step in the right direction to getting to the music you're looking for from him
Nov 30, 2020 Rap God is a good example of him being lyrical and his flow being on point. The thing is, not all songs should be a lyrical showcase.
Nov 30, 2020 I definitely agree but I think playing around with words is whats keeping him going music wise but I think he should go outside his comfort zone a little more which I think he might finally be starting to do
Nov 30, 2020 Shiet this is random af. Just stumbled on this. Sounds effortless like he doesn't even give a s---. But you can actually vibe to this. He should definitely do more laid back verses rather than trying hard on every track.
