Jul 3, 2024 The weird thing is that Houdini is track 11… and that’s when Slim Shady of the past pops up and eventually merges with present day Em. So the ”unmerge” and maybe ”murder” of Slim Shady is somewhere on tracks 12-16… but then what is the first 10 tracks about? Flashback to the old days? Could he have gone into his vault to dig out unused tracks recorded back then to finish them up to represent the old Slim? I highly doubt that but it will be interesting to see how the whole concept plays out… I can’t figure it out lol
Jul 3, 2024 The instrumental kept building but never fully crescendoed. It would’ve been awesome if the instrumental completely exploded into crisp, hard-hitting snares and more of those distorted guitar riffs as Eminem’s verse went in. With the current instrumental it’s like a rollercoaster but you just get stuck at the top of the hill instead of going down on that true thrill ride.
Jul 3, 2024 Because he's not going to talk too much about business, generational wealth and politics like Jay - I always imagined it'd have to be a strict concept album. As in a story that runs from track to track, no f---ing about. Test his story telling skills. Like, imagine the story of Stan and Matthew told over 12 tracks with real detail (as an example, obviously not that). No singles. Almost like a hip hop audio book where you get dope songs but you follow characters through to a conclusion. It'd take confidence though, cos the story would have to be dope enough for him to commit to.
Jul 3, 2024 Imagine a 12 track album, a coherent story, 1 track released each week accompanied with an animation or actors playing the characters in a video. Would listen like a hip hop audio book, but you'd be able to playlist the videos to visually be like a musical film. With no definitive single, it'd probably not do numbers, but I think the reception would be him getting his flowers, if done right.
Jul 3, 2024 I’m still wondering if that abrupt ending of the Houdini music video leads into another music video. This upcoming Tobey music video doesn’t count because it’s a Lyrical Lemonade thing technically.
Jul 3, 2024 Lol, you mixed up the song with the video. The merging occures only in the video. In the song, he is already Slim Shady or they are merged. It can easily be track 11, it can sum up the previous tracks.
Jul 3, 2024 All 3 killed it just flexing on a cinematic beat with some dope guitar riffs. But still strange it's a single and not just a song on the album.Imagine 'Remember me' being a single of MMLP. I think we will get the 3rd single with music video next Friday with the album.
Jul 3, 2024 Yeah that’s true I suppose… I’d say he is merged in the song: ”Sometimes I wonder what the old me’d say” etc But still, video implies this is when old Slim emerges so it would be a bit weird if he is there already in several songs before that. Shouldn’t read too much into it lol
