Jul 7, 2024 With limited information other than the 2 songs and album placements - I'd imagine he spends up until Houdini as Slim Shady. Then on track 11/12 he gets killed. Then the rest of the album is about what's next. What does he want to rap about, what influence can he have on the hiphop/Detroit rap scene, what will his legacy be, how does he sum up his run as Slim Shady. In essence, first half giving people what they want from his alter ego, second half fully shedding that alter ego and looking to the future. Or he could do an Eminem, and claim a concept album when it's not even close. But i'm hoping for the first.

Jul 7, 2024 The only thing that gives me hope is the talk from insiders of him going back to old stuff, the production allegedly involved, the fact he's gone for this title, and that he's spent 3 years working on it. In reality, if it's the theory i've said, all he has to do is keep to a concept for like 10 tracks. If he does Slim Shady for half the album and kills him in a song, then no one can say that they were lied to by the title. If he does that, he can do whatever he wants for the second half, as, in theory, it'll be him looking at loads of other topics and styles after being freed from his alter ego.

Jul 7, 2024 My dream would be that he does 10 tracks of Slim Shady, Paul says it's disgusting start of Houdini, Houdini plays, there's a skit or start of a song that alludes to that he needs to be offed cos he cant do what he's done in the last 11 tracks in 2024, and we get a big song about his death. Cue about 8 songs of a little bit of cyphering, but mainly talking about what's going on with him these days, whether it be the intruder thing, his daughter getting married, a daughter transitioning, politics, who he thinks will be the next to take the mantle in rap, whether he's processed his Dad dying - Anything that isn't just straight 'I SHOULD BE TOP 5', 'I STILL OUTSELL PEOPLE EVEN IF YOU SAY MY BEARD IS WEIRD'. No issue with it every once and a while, but lets get a bit of substance.

Jul 7, 2024 Might be slightly controversial, but my favourite all time Eminem song will always be Say Goodbye to Hollywood. Don't know what it is about it, but ever since I heard it when I was 12, it spoke to me. Not cos I can relate to it, but you can actually hear his pure frustration about something that's brought him so much, but for his own wellbeing, he feels he needs to step away from. Ironically, him clearly acknowledging that he needs to k--- of the Slim Shady thing is the closest he's probably got to the same feelings. Slim Shady has been an easy thing to hide behind, it's sold well, it's given him a lot of freedom to say what he likes, it's given him a symbol and sound - But on the other hand, he's not in that space anymore, the landscape is different, it brings expectations, and perhaps at 51 he border line feels a bit ridiculous doing it. If we can get a song on this album that has the same vibes of this dilemma, and makes me feel a quarter of how I did the first time I heard Say Goodbye to Hollywood, i'd be happy.
