May 30, 2022 Is it just me or does Em sound country as f--- lately? He has this "twang' about him lol. I've thought about his voice for a while coz it sounded weird/different but couldn't put my finger on why. When he performed at the Super Bowl it kinda just clicked lol but idk if it's just me
May 30, 2022 It sounds grungier or raspier than in the golden days. I think this has become more and more evident after the MMLP2 era. Specially in all those acapella freestyles.

May 30, 2022 Yeah this is sadly true. MMLP2 is lyrically multiple levels above any of his recent albums. I don’t necessarily think his skill as a lyricist has declined since then - I think he spends less time writing for a project than he did back then with MMLP2, and he chooses more obvious (cringey/simple) puns with his writing now, instead of slick metaphors. Not saying he doesn’t do the latter, it’s just more rare now. Its my biggest gripe with Em’s music now. Why’s he gotta ruin s--- with pointless dad jokes? I love Em but MTBMB was a step backwards lyrically. The most annoying thing is that he’s capable of it still i.e Darkness - he just caters to casual listeners & reactors (worst thing that’s happened in a while for Em) by giving them surface level s--- & easy punchlines I really hope he stays away from this lazy writing on his next album. If he can combine the writing from MMLP2 & the production & aggression from Kamikaze & MTBMB then we’re in for a treat.
