May 23, 2023 Exactly. Sound is not great either, mainly because the writing sucks. For Eminems standards, the writing and songs are really bad. Even Revival had its moments with Castle and Arose, where it’s top tier lyricism. Lyricism is a huge part of what makes music great or not, especially for an artist like Eminem.

May 23, 2023 Book of Rhymes, Favorite b----, Guns Blazing, Zeus, and Discombobulated are all pretty good. I hated Black Magic at first but it’s decent. I could go my whole life without listening to Alfred’s Theme and Tone Deaf again. Gnat was boring until the 3rd beat. Higher is one of Eminem’s most generic songs ever. These Demons and She Loves Me are fine. Killer is cool but also pretty cringe since he starts off his “club song” with a bad line about toilet paper… plus a 50 year old man trying to make a club song just seems weird to me.
May 23, 2023 Side B is saying absolutely nothing & is technically unimpressive so what does it have going for it? Sounds good? Barely, maybe for Em’s standards. Worth sacrificing for Em’s artistry though? Extremely debatable. If you’re going to champion an Em project solely because it sounds good, you may as well just be listening to pop music at that point. For me, with Em, it needs to have all the elements for me to praise it, but if I had to choose between average sound & great writing vs above average sound & bad writing — I’d choose the former, because I fell in love with Em’s music for what he was saying more than how he sounded, although early on he had both. If his sound was the pivotal factor, none of us would still be here.

May 23, 2023 Gunz Blazing, Zeus and Book Of Rhymes alone s--- on a lot of MTBMB You guys b---- a lot, but 50 was the king of making songs that sounded great. He used to have perfect flows and hooks. Musicality is important, my gringos. I’m not saying that he should dumb it down, I’m saying that it has to be listenable. I don’t care if every syllable rhymes if it sounds unpleasing
May 23, 2023 It would be fine if he didn’t start the song off with toilet references. That can make it an immediate skip for some people. But then again what do I know. Maybe toilets really get the girls shaking their a----s!!
