Oct 18, 2023 Alright @Crookedeye I listened to the Paint My Bedroom Black album by Holly Humberstone. I’ll take you through my first reaction of the album. I’m not crazy about the first two songs. I like the instrumental of the “Paint My Bedroom Black” song. Don’t get me wrong, they’re decent songs, but they don’t blow me away. “Cocoon” is my favorite song on the album, I can definitely relate to it. The run from “Cocoon” to “Lauren” is the best part of the album imo. “Lauren” is another favorite of mine. “Baby Blues” is cute little interlude that sounds nice. “Flatlining” is my last favorite of the album. I thought it was going to be average like the first two songs, but that switch into those cool sounds in the instrumental really elevated the song. “Elvis Impersonators” is another average song to me like the first two. “Girl” was okay at first but it really saved itself by the end for me. “Room Service” was a good way to close the album and features my favorite line on the album: “you’ve lost too much sleep for one lifetime” RELATE. Overall, I think Holly has nice singing and some decent writing and storytelling that can get redundant sometimes. The album has a few songs I’m not crazy about, but this feels like music that could definitely grow on me. For now I’ll give it a 7/10. It really reminds me of Gracie Abrams and Lizzy McAlpine. If you like this you’ll probably like Gracie Abrams
Oct 18, 2023 Nice I love Ghost Me, Lauren, and Room Service is becoming my favourite slowly lol. Gracie is cool, i should try a whole album from her. Glad you listened and somewhat enjoyed it. Antichrist gives me Taylor - Bad Blood mixed with Kanye - Runaway vibes lol. But ye its just a super pleasant album to have on, grew on me a lot
Oct 18, 2023 h--- yeah, all good songs All of Gracie’s music kinda sounds like this but yeah when you get time I recommend the deluxe of Good Riddance that came out this year I can definitely see that I can def see that, this type of music really lends itself to growing on you. Same with Gracie’s music, I barely liked her music at first but now I love it. It’ll probably be the same with Holly’s music
