But reality if Dre didnt say that we wouldnt have no idea how close we are. To be honest i think that was a mistake on Dres part, he just doesnt know how close to being done that album is

If they hadn't said anything and no album was announced we'd all be moaning that there's no album and "how has he not made a new album by now" or "they could at least keep us in the loop as to what's happening." Now they've told us, people are still moaning. I totally get the "bad marketing" thing but Dre said "later this year". That's a span of 9 or so months. If he'd said "soon", then that's a different story and we'd have the right to moan if it didn't come within the next 2/3 months.

Then he created the whole tracklist-made-them-assess-the-album-before-hearing-it conspiracy theory to justify his misstep and that's the only reason we get nothing. Because he took offence most people didn't like his mid album. That's it. A reminder.
