I've almost completely grown out of Eminem's music at this point. By that, I mean that I find I rarely play Em anymore now that I'm in my mid-twenties (21). I find that a lot of his old music is simply cringeworthy and largely not meant to be played around any adult or they'll likely judge you and think you're an autist with childish taste or an actual serial killer. Try putting on The Marshall Mathers LP, The Slim Shady LP or Relapse without cringing once, good luck. It's pure shock value, immaturity (r--- jokes galore), insecurity all wrapped into edgy packages for young children to gawk at.

The only album I can see myself listening to again is about half of The Eminem Show but now even that sounds dated as f---, the beats are awful and his lyrics are bland and vapid. And as of late his music has aged very poorly and his new content is just pure s---. It's either a lame attempt at shock humor wrapped in a cringeworthy, unfunny, gross perspective from a middle aged man or some corny attempt at making a hit radio sell out pop single about how motivational he is for jocks who work out.

So in my books, he's got one shot to release something interesting and mature for a 45 year old man and he can't rely on edgy punchlines about r--- or s--- jokes. Also, at least before he was half listenable because of his somewhat-good flow...this is just purile utter filth. f--- the new Eminem and all the brainless dickriders. He hasn't made a good album in 25 years.

you aren't alone---other people on this board have said the same thing---that they can no longer listen to albums like SSLP or MMLP because it feels dated and it hasn't aged well or whatever.

but me---i still love those albums as much as i did when i first discovered them. they haven't gotten old to me and i still listen to them

as far as current eminem---i don't think his new album will be any good. rappers reach a point when they just don't have it anymore and eminem has already reached that point

It's one thing to have an opinion. It's another to have a stupid one.. just because you take yourself far too seriously and can't listen to two classic albums because they make edgy jokes is ignorant. Also neither of the first two were cringeworthy. This forums use of the word cringe is twice as bad as anything an artist could ever say. The first two were nothing but projected edginess with good timing and execution.

Totally disagree about MMLP etc. being pure shock value, or rather... shock value done childishly.

That kind of s--- doesn't endure very long. What you're implying is more like Bizarre from D12. That's cringe. And it doesn't make an impact, because it's empty.

There's layers of character, his own backstory, him provoking society - playing devil's advocate - him pretending to be a misogynist, playing up to mischief, contradicting himself, winking to the camera... Em's s--- is dense, and it isn't childish or cheap shock. So no, I don't find it embarrassing or cringe, and would happily defend it against any so called intellectual who thinks that.

IMO you're just going through a phase which most Em fans go through of 'loving his s---', then feeling too obsessed with it and not liking the idea of him being so popular meshing with your sense of youthful rebellion and not wanting to conform to popular things, so responding like 'f--- this I'm too old and cool for Em', and then you'll come back to it lol. Just a cycle.
