Nah thas crazy. MMLP2 era rapping is some of his best; 'Groundhog Day', 'Baby', come on. And yet neither of those fkn tracks are on the album. But, even 'Rhyme or Reason', 'Rap God', 'Brainless', 'Legacy', some really great s---...

When he said he tried to go to the 'last thing' he would think of, like racked his brains, essentially for every line... it shows. The writing is dense asf. Revival on the other hand is like he went to the 'first thing' he thought of, any trash pun or word association that popped in his head and often so out of appropriate tone it's ridiculous.

I mean, rapping aggressively on a political anti-Trump / pro-America;inspirational track, meant to rile people up, rally people etc. aka very serious in intent - and doing that absolutely ridiculous build-up and babble about the plate/ate s--- just to do an Adolf Hitler pun... which is also one of the stupidiest and laziest things leftist morons do with regards to Trump - HITLER? Really; a maniac who was trying to f---ing genocide an entire people. Vs. a guy who 'tweets mean stuff!'.

And he shouts it too. YOU ATE OFF/ADOLF HITLER. Absurd. Then the f---ing 'this kind of pickle that we're in's hard to dill/deal'... something a f---ing 10 year old would write. If there's a track which DIDN'T need puns - it's that one, especially when they're so lazy and stupid, and said in a serious manner when they're unintentionally wince-inducing. Autism 101;

And he's still in full out denial about it. Does he not read the actual - real criticisms?. Nobody was saying they want you to sound like macklemore, rap more mature etc. We complained of trash phoned-in pop features for cheap hits & abysmal writing/puns - the one thing you pride yourself on - writing. So he just builds strawmen for himself to knock down to deal with it 'maybe if it had auto-tune!'.

This is definitely not the music his fanbase wants. I guess it’s cool he tried something different but not when it’s this generic. His voice is fine, the instrumentals are fine, the lyrics are fine, but that’s it… just fine. There’s nothing special or exceptional about it. It honestly just sounds like he listened to too much Gracie Abrams. It’s funny how on “GIVE ME A REASON” he talks about being a knock off Shady when in reality he sounds like a knock off Joyner Lucas on that song. Like every element literally sounds like a Joyner Lucas track. You don’t even have to put Joyner Lucas AI on the vocals, just pitch the voice down. MGK’s verse on “WHO I WAS” was actually decent and might be the best part of the album.

I’ve heard a theory that this could be a bait to get bad reviews so that the bad reviews motivate him again so he doesn’t feel like he’s “WASHED UP”. Maybe he wants them to give him a reason. But I don’t know about that theory, it kinda sounds like cope and I heard he’s been wanting to make acoustic music for a while.

I had a feeling the HOPE album would cause problems for him. When you base almost your entire discography around how you’re struggling and cultivate a fanbase who only wants struggle music, you’re left perplexed as to what to make music about once you’re not struggling anymore. It happens to too many artists. It’s okay to make music about your struggles, but when that’s the only thing you make music about you run into problems. You gotta find the motivation from within, not from outside sources. Him asking people to give him a reason might work in the short term, but not the long term. He has to find that passion inside of himself. I guess it’s pretty ballsy to make a song where you admit you’re feeling washed up though.

Listen to me Brain Monkey, not everybody have your same taste about music (fortunately) and this terrible need to compare everything with his three albums don’t take you nowhere. The Ringer was and still a good opening song, you can still remix your r-----ed s--- and be nostalgic as much as you want. If you like only the first three albums then listen only the first three and go to the swifty sub to go cry with your other monkeys
