Nov 6, 2016 Thats because rapping like Eminem isnt worth emulating. It takes less effort to make a more musical flow. What becomes mainstream nowadays is anti to what made Eminem popular back in the day.
Nov 6, 2016 Sorry but it's true... He influenced a bunch of rappers due to his mood and not give a f--- attitude and his determination but in recent times... Get outta here, Future/Chief Keef has done more for hip-hop than Eminem.
Nov 6, 2016 Melodic hip-hop is the future, people aren't really going to super lyrical shows anymore except for the hardcore underground fans who still believe it's the 90s-early 2000s. Sorry.
Nov 6, 2016 Eminem has less influence on the sound/direction of hip hop and has had more of an "inspiration" role. He's influenced people to rap, but not necessarily influenced them HOW to rap.
Nov 6, 2016 Definitely the best way to put it. I love Eminem, but to say he's innovated or changed hip hop in a profound way since he came up is just not true. He's influenced and inspired individuals but has never changed the genre like Kanye did on multiple occasions. On the flip side he's always existed outside of hip hop's influence and always just did his own thing. Perhaps that plays a role? Since he's never really followed trends he's never really been pressured to innovate because what he's doing is outside of what mainstream hip hop is anyway? Idk.
