Jan 14, 2016 They were obsessed with a little white boy (the minority in basketball) who was tearing it up every other night
Jan 14, 2016 Carter perhaps on his consistency and longetivy but not T-Mac imo. Tracy at his peak he was unstoppable and on par with Kobe but his peak was only for a few seasons and he was injury-riddled for a lot of seasons. He's a personal favourite top 10 but for an objective list he's more of an honourable mention. Also a big weird how they don't have Gary Payton in the top 10 for point guards. One of the best defensive guards ever and an illustrious career to boot.
Jan 14, 2016 GP was a big time snub. Looking back at Tmac really only had 8 or so seasons at his peak, so I guess it's understandable.
Jan 15, 2016 ESPN is the master of generating discussion shamelessly. They do it on purpose and try to justify it with "and their peak performance", but it's pretty silly having Curry and Durant so high at this point. The way I look at current players, I think, "if so and so retired at this moment, where does the career rank?" instead of looking at projections. Most people just assume Curry and Durant and so on will just keep doing what they're doing. They're on pace, but they're not there and shouldn't be lauded as such. Rose, T-Mac, and Grant Hill are perfect examples.
Jan 15, 2016 sorry mate I still hold out some hope when he plays that he can at least get to be a good 20 and 5 PG, but it's not looking pretty right now.
Jan 15, 2016 He been on a roll lately though. Breaking his face on the 1st day of camp was a big set back, especially considering he was coming in 100% healthy. He's averaged about 17 & 5 on 45% shooting since ditching the mask, so hopefully he continues to improve.
Jan 15, 2016 True, consistency and health have been the issue so far and he's shown flashes. The rest of the year will be pretty key for his career I believe
Jan 16, 2016 It's a shame what happened to Bird. If he didn't ruin his back while paving his mother's driveway, he probably could've been right under MJ as GOAT, and I guarantee that the Celtics would've won more titles under him. But they didn't... so...my top 5 goes MJ Magic Bird Kobe Lebron I'm TEMPTED to put Kobe over Bird, but just can't do it. Lebron is physically way more gifted than Bird, but so was Magic. Bird might've been the best basketball player in history though, meaning his knowledge and execution of the game. And, I definitely think Lebron wouldn't have been as good as handling the physicality of the 80's.
Jan 20, 2016 I feel where you're coming from with this argument, but I think the players of today are a product of the rules. Hand checking wasn't just allowed, it was encouraged in the 80s-90s, and if this era had come up with those rules in place, I think they'd adjust because that goes both ways. Bron is a physical specimen, he could do some serious damage on offense & defense if he was allowed to use his body more aggressively.
Jan 20, 2016 100-91 has came out: 100 - Shawn Kemp 99 - Kevin Love 98 - Gail Goodrich 97 - James Harden 96 - Bobby Jones 95 - Mark Gasol 94 - Mark Price 93 - Lenny Wilkins 92 - Nate Thurman 91 - Maurice Cheeks
Jan 21, 2016 Same here. Had both their posters on my wall as a kid. Ok call me biased but if Harden is on that list, does D Rose make the cut?
