Nov 5, 2016 and getting mad when they dont putting musicians specifically rappers on this pedestal is absolutely ridiculous wayne doesnt owe anyone anything man this societal climate of berating people of the tiniest foot out of line is sickening bro has been a superstar most of his life obv his mind is wired differently to regular people he doesnt have any responsibility to anyone other than to his fans to keep putting out GOAT level rap music im just using wayne as hes a topical example but smh this goes for anyone man you wouldnt care this much if your neighbour or some kid in your math class disagreed with you about some s--- stop putting these people on pedestals they're just ppl smh not career politician herbs
Nov 5, 2016 i dont understand this mindest a lot of people say s--- about like "how are you gonna listen to x when they don't support y" its like, to me, i dont give a s--- about their political standing or their opinions on a lot of things, or just about anything. i like a lot of rappers that like trashcan kendrick but that doesn't mean i have to like him just because he has their cosign. i don't give a s--- about their opinion, I like the artist for the art, and the bubble that art's contained in, not because of the person they are outside of being the artist. but i guess thats the whole separating art from artist thing that a lot of people can't get past.
Nov 5, 2016 ur post was just in poor english im just not exactly sure what you're trying to say you feel that rappers represent you to the point where if they say something you dont agree with it bothers you because you feel as though they are speaking for all black people?
Nov 5, 2016 yea exactly like this is a whole nother can of worms but like rappers really talk about running up in peoples houses and killing their mothers and childs and stuff wayne doesnt agree with blm and they act brand new
Nov 5, 2016 well i think thats a bit different because people like to beat their chest and rap about being alphamales and s--- like that and that gets into hyperbole when it comes to beating down doors and skullfucking your children's mother but its like do i give a s--- if wayne disagrees/agrees with me politically? absolutely not because i'm not interested in wayne as a human being, i'm interested in him as a rapper. it's cool to find an artist you're into that does share the same opinions you do but to me i just can't get mad at a rapper i like that has differing opinions than me politically or otherwise
Nov 5, 2016 sorry for being so dismissive in my last post but that really is something i dont understand and im interested in are you saying whenever a famous black person speaks on an issue, you feel as though they speak for all black ppl?
Nov 5, 2016 kanye west is like the posterchild for this argument, memes aside he's done and said some things that a lot of people will find pretty reprehensible, but you always, always hear people say "kanye's such an a------ but he's a musical genius" i don't see why he's the only one who gets to operate like that take the human being away from the art and enjoy the art in a vacuum
Nov 5, 2016 If I do then I do rappers represent the black community there our biggest media outlet and they pre define our cultural stereotype in America so when media spreads news of an event like what lil Wayne said It looks bad on the culture
Nov 5, 2016 noone honestly sees it like that but black ppl though are you concerned about other races getting a poor impression on your culture or is it moreso an internal thing i just dont understand this thought process
