Nov 5, 2016 Don't think what Wayne said matters at all. The comments he made imo, were comments made by someone who has been to hospital a lot for life threatening s--- and as a result is somewhat out of touch with what is happening in the world. Because of this doesn't really have any idea what BLM is/does. “It just sounds weird. I don’t know that you should put a name on it. It’s not a name, it’s not whatever, whatever. It’s, somebody got shot by the police.” to anyone outside of the US that just heard of BLM and was aked about a shooting/BLM, they would probably have a similar reaction and give a similar answer.
Nov 5, 2016 yea and i get that, i get that stance but i think at the end of the day it comes down to does he want to change his stance to be that empowering voice that makes people see things that way or does he really just want to say what he's thinking without having to bend it because of that position, and i dont think he should be shunned for not changing his opinion because of his position and staying, for lack of a better word, real about what he thinks. that being said ti is totally entitled to say whatever he says too but imo it just comes off as silly at being mad at the dude for not bending his perspective to align with BLM if it really doesn't, or didn't at the time. it's like, call a spade a spade, he said what he said because it's what he was thinking.
Nov 5, 2016 hard. not that i care much, but id prefer an artist is honest instead of just a crowd-pleasing drone. which imo is one rly bad thing about rap atm, so many f--s are like "oh i heard a bit of him, i think he's alright" but you know for a fact they're forcing some nice guy attitude and are actually thinking "eminems music is dogshit"
Nov 5, 2016 yea i think wayne's been at such a high level for such a long time and such a high percentage of his life that not only does he not have to give a s--- anymore, i don't think wayne is mentally capable of giving a s--- about what people thing at this point and it's refreshing to hear someone just unapologetically s---t from the hip without worrying about being a crowd pleaser, even if it makes him look like and a---. same thing with a lot of what kanye does but kanye's a bit more calculated with what he says i think
Nov 5, 2016 That video of westwood talking to wayne about some top 5 rappers list with Gucci at number 1>>>>>> tim:"so there's no eminem, what do you think?" wayne: tim: "Gucci was number 1" wayne: "GUCI MANE!? NUMBER 1?! i still kinda half believe kanye calculates almost every word he says when he's got the attention, then goes home to Kim and lives a completely normal mental-breakdown free life. Almost like a troll but instead of trying to offend people, he's more-so doing controversial s--- that gets people talking about him
Nov 5, 2016 but lil waynes words influences the culture in the way of like a kid will see his comment and say i dont care about black lives matter either but that kid isn't in the position of power waynes in not to care that kid can still walk into the street and get shot that kid has more of a chance of going through a black lives matter controversial situation than wayne does but yet his words will effect this kid even after he's heard waynes songs about black people being suppressed because thats that kids idol wayne could've just shunned the subject and said next question but instead wayne says there is no racism nothing going on in the black community why should i worry about that I'm rich well wayne u once wasnt rich and now your words effects millions his opinion was very contradictive and self indulging and thats a problem this man was saying black lives matter at his lousiana fest so if he wants to give his opinion fine if its a negative opinion so be it fine but dont have a contradictive opinion where it just doesn't make any sense why your saying what your saying after the actions u have been taking
Nov 5, 2016 kanye is a genius at marketing, controversy is never a bad thing when you're trying to shine light on yourself. kanye, when he has something down the pipeline or he needs to be in the news, will say exactly what he needs to say to stir s--- up. i don't think he's as genuine as wayne is. it's like when he was going on and on about the bankruptcy s--- and tweeting millionaires saying he needs their support or whatever, he had TLOP coming out soon/just about to come out. i fully believe that the "personal debt" thing was all about getting people to check out his new album. same thing with releasing the album in waves, or iterations or whatever the f--- actually happened in the end with that absolute clusterfuck. He wanted people to keep an interest in the album after it was released so he made like 9 f---in versions which kept people listening and kept people talking and most importantly kept blogging nerds making articles about "KANYE JUST RELEASED TLOP 3.7, CLICK NOW TO SEE THE MINUTE DIFFERENCES!". The man's a genius marketer, i'll give him that. well I think that ideology is assuming a lot, maybe i'm an outlier but growing up when I had my idols and heroes i was realistic about what I identified with and what I didnt. i think that assuming wayne fans = supporters of waynes political views is kinda shortsighted. I was a huge eminem fan, huge nirvana fan, loved wrestlers like RVD who's entire character was getting stoned, and I was a fan of a lot of drunks and degenerate drug addicts growing up, and I self identified as straight edge until I was like 15 or 16. I think, and speaking from my own personal experience with other kids growing up, which i know is anecdotal but still, i believe people don't give children and teens enough credit for what their mind is capable of. i don't think wayne saying BLM is stupid is going to make people hate BLM. I think people will read his statement, think about it, and stick firm with their stance they had before reading wayne's thoughts on it, and i think that's evidenced by the huge outcry people have about wayne saying what he said. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with BLM or what wayne said, a lot of attention has been brought to it and a lot of people are speaking out against wayne and what he said and did. i think that in and of itself is evidence enough that people are freethinking enough to acknowledge when someone they idolize says something stupid, and disagrees with that person.. if they didn't there wouldn't be any controversy over what wayne said. it'd just be another day at the office. people talking about the situation is the best evidence against themselves. if people were as easily influenced by their favorite artists as a lot of people think, there'd be no conversation about this right now. He's also, just like everyone else, a human that is going to have kneejerk reactions and be a hypocrite from time to time. whether he actually feels the way he says he did, whether he was just uninformed on what BLM is/means and would agree with them on their stances after learning more, or whether he was just made about the daughter s--- and made a petty comment, i don't think it matters. he's a human being and we're all hypocrites from time to time, and i'd be less lenient even if it was someone else, but wayne has always been known to make kneejerk statements and just downright petty at times. i get that wayne will influence people that hear him, but my entire thing is that, should he have to change the way he feels and expresses himself because of that? would it be nice if he started acting like ghandi and touted equality, world peace, and everything else? sure, lots of people would hear him and his message, but that's not wayne anymore, that's wayne playing a political game with a goal in mind, not wayne being wayne. would it be cool if he said "everbody chill, let's not hurt eachother"? yeah, but should he be vilified for not saying that a point that he could have? i don't think so.
