    @Koolo not sure if anyones mentioned it before but I'd recommend you check out the latest projects from Denzel Curry and G Herbo when you get the chance, both pretty good bridge-gap sounding rappers.

    My point is that if you think everyone in the country was bumping De La Soul and nothing else from 91 til Nelly came out, that's not the case. A bunch of different sounds have always been popular concurrently.

    Well obviously. My point was, is that you were naming albums such as All Eyez On Me and 2001 which have that similar. The sound has changed but there has been tons of great projects in this modern era of rap. If you are looking for something more old school, listen to Summer Knights and 1999 by Joey Badass, I saw BC already recommended that but I think you would like it.

    This is one of the stupidest posts I've ever read on this website, and that's saying a lot. First of all, that's not how Jay writes. Second, even if it were, that doesn't make him "less of a songwriter." Since when did the unseen part of someone's process matter in something like this?

    The production is A1 and people call it old man rap lmao. It's just a sign of the times man. I've fallen out of line with the main stream for the most part. Plus these youngsters don't know what the f--- they talking about half the time and think every sound that isn't Futureesque is dusty trash.
