Feb 13, 2021 I give credit when I like it ! Also nice to see u give some upcoming guys like Killah Priest some shine. I think he's gonna have a good career if he keeps this up!
Feb 13, 2021 Through a producer group I’m in called The Inner Circle, it’s run by Anno Domini Nation. They’re who I get all my beats from and they do like yearly deals for features and s--- and this year they teamed up with Legion Beats(which I’m sure most people have heard of) and they did this package deal for several features, only thing about them is they aren’t exclusive, instead they are limited, so several people can get them up to a point and then they cut it off, but you still get distribution rights and things like that, they do offer exclusive verse which I’m negotiating with right now for a few but they are insanely expensive as opposed to their yearly deal.
Feb 13, 2021 h--- yeah. Why the heck wouldn’t I. s----s cheap. Still get paid for it. Still get the Exposure.
Feb 13, 2021 Artistic Integrity I guess? Its not about the price but the the way it looks. Once people realize you bought some 'Do it your own' rap beats it just looks bad. Not to mention whatever exposure you get from the rappers that are featured is pretty negligible lets be honest.
Feb 13, 2021 Not sure what you mean by do it your own rap beats. and also don’t believe there’s any less integrity to it. It’s a common thing artists do is lease verses instead of selling them.
Feb 13, 2021 I mean you're buying the beat with the verse already on it correct? and since its sold to others its not exclusive right? So they're basically fill in the blank space verses like those ''do it your own'' books. Not only is it just uncreative to use such a beat but its amateurish. You're essentially remixing others songs. It's not great How isn't there? You're using a beat simply because it has a rappers verse on it. You have very little control over the sound and subject of your own music when you use this approach. The rapper in question, doesn't even know you exist and yet is appearing on your song? It's parasitic Uhm, not really? I mean im sure it happens but it's always kind of looked down upon, I remember Mick Jenkins reusing the same verse for two songs people paid him to be on and they got upset. The idea ofc is that fans should only be able to hear that verse on your song, otherwise whats the point?
Feb 13, 2021 No not exclusive but limited. So it’s not like anyone in the world that wants it can get it. Also no I still control and rap about whatever I want I don’t give a rats a--- about what they’re rapping about lmao. Except for in the case of my Kxng Crooked one but I really enjoyed that subject and was wanting something like that anyway. It didn’t used to be common but a lot of artists these days do it now, pretty much anyone will nowadays. I’m sure they do it solely for the money cause I mean selling one for to one person for 1500 opposed to 10 people for 500. For me the point is, my name is attached to their Spotify and iTunes now, so when someone goes to their page and if they happen to scroll down to the appears on section they’ll see that track with me and it gives me exposure. I wouldn’t say parasitic, more, symbiotic, they make money from us, we gain exposure from them, and even if it’s small exposure it’s still exposure.
Feb 13, 2021 I understand some people may not like it or thing it’s bad or whatever, but honestly I don’t care because I think it’s beneficial and as of yet has been quite beneficial.
Feb 13, 2021 Oh I see but I think the point still stands, at least with me I could never have a verse on my song they gonna use somewhere else much less buy a reused verse. Parasitism is a form of symbiosis lol. Yeah I get that I know they're making money off of you but as far as exposure goes I don't think they're gaining anything. What have you gained noticeably so far from the features? Both Killah and Crooked are all but irrelevant today
Feb 13, 2021 Crooked still gets plenty of views and has an obsessive fan base though. And I’ve gained hundreds of thousands of views from a royce and Lil Wayne feat lmao.
Feb 13, 2021 Also I would never write and rap a verse for someone and then do it for someone else on a whole other song. Unless they knew that beforehand and were cool with it, but if two individuals pay me for features, they getting individual verses. So I can see where people would be upset with stuff like that but when it’s known that it’s not gonna be exclusive I don’t see the issue.
Feb 13, 2021 Yeah I’ll link them just a sec., both are kind of a--- cause I didn’t even try to rap on beat back then(they were like 2 years ago I think) but also Royce and Wayne both were pre recorded acapellas that I had to try and find beats for and make work the best I could so they also aren’t great. But yeah my producing team get deals on verses from pretty much any artists, they do exclusive custom verses as well but they can get expensive, I was gonna get a tech N9ne one that was 20 grand. I ended up deciding it wasn’t worth it
Feb 13, 2021 lil Wayne got me 90k views so far and it still gets like 100 views a week. Royce actually didn’t get as much views as I thought it had on it I thought it was at 100k but it’s only at 65. But it still gets around 100 or so views a week as well and is on a few playlists.
Feb 13, 2021 Yoooo I also just found out the that the nip set hustle verse on jay z’s new song is a leased verse and leased from the same people I do mine through. What the fuuuck lmfao.
Feb 13, 2021 Bruh this what im talking about though lol that wayne verse is from some 2009 leak. Yknow what im saying, you paid for that??
