Apr 6, 2018 d--- I'm disappointed after a few listens. Why is it so long? The production is pretty bland too. Guess I was expecting an album full of songs like Headstone. Ah well. Still a few gems for sure. Meechy is leagues ahead of the other 2, dude needs to go solo
Apr 6, 2018 Feels like there's like 8 tracks that are just generic tracks that blend all together. Not bad tracks but it's like they're basicaly the same thing and have nothing that stand out. Then you have 3 or so tracks with a dope Juice or Eric verse Then Meechy Darko makes every verse he spits a must listen and himself makes 4-5 songs gems Then you got pop s--- like that Vacation hook and it's like, you can tell Meechy's not f---ing with that cause he can't get through the verse without talking about wrapping Rihanna's legs around his head. Like y'all appeal to the underground scene I'm not tryna make y'all starve but y'all don't need an auto tune hook like that. And it's not "poking fun" bs like they hinted in the vacation video or what people will inevitably say. Okay rant over I still dig a lot of the album Edit: I like juice and Eric and not sure meech could function without Eric making the music for him but he's SO superior at rapping and just way more interesting compared to the other two
Apr 6, 2018 Absolutely agreed. I mean the first half of the album is actually really good, so not a bad album by any means, it just gets stale af halfway through imo. I just feel like its a pity coz they have the skills and could have staged an amazing comeback 2 years after their last album. Eric is a good producer but he hasn't been able to hit the peaks and the consistency he did on BetterOffDead these last 2 albums. But like you say, there's still plenty of good songs to take away from this one.
Apr 6, 2018 It's because on these official releases he can't get clearance to use samples. There's one sample on this album (U&I) and coincidentally it's the most memorable beat on the whole record. It just got cleared a little while ago too
Apr 6, 2018 Haven’t liked anything post Better off dead aside from those little SoundCloud DOTD drops they’d do. 3005 was really boring and the only good song Bounce had awful vocal mixing. Any reason to try this ? They legit used to be my favorite group of any genre
Apr 6, 2018 d--- Bun-B still sound HUNGRY,HUNGRY HIPPO on here. This is Everything I wanted the first Lp to be but who cares when we have both 10/10 on both LPs
Apr 6, 2018 Im so surprised at the hate on this album so far. Yeah, it's long as f--- but I probably like every single track after 3-4 listens. Intro is hard as f---, and I'm impressed with Juice's singing throughout. It was a nice surprise. Overall, this is definitely better than 3001, but not on the BOD level. They have all progressed and sort of mellowed out, and that's very apparent on this album. Definitely my favorite project to drop today. I'd give it an 8.5/10 right now.
Apr 6, 2018 This fucken album is so good, i just finished it. Gonna come back to this, unlike most albums ive heard.
Apr 6, 2018 not feeling this tbch but i like their style. something abt this just isnt doing it for me and i cant quite pout my finger on it.
Apr 7, 2018 You complaining on how long it is?....is this what the world come to??? Next a thread about long albums smh
Apr 7, 2018 you're right actually, i'm probably just nitpicking. I really do like the album, especially the first half. just think it could of packed more of a punch if it was shorter.
Apr 7, 2018 "Man f--- that mumble rap It's that skully low rumble rap I'll do 50 years if the police find what's inside my duffle bag Moma shoulda named me trouble man..."
Apr 7, 2018 I am really liking this album a lot. Like, a surprising amount honestly. To me, I find that FBZ always brings a much needed energy to newer rap music where there is a focus on lyrics. This album has great energy, some dope content, really great guest features, and a bunch of the beats knock. Are the beats as good as their earlier s---? Probably not, but I still think many of these tracks sound great. Plus, I also love all the references to classic s--- that came out before them. Always respect rappers who do this s---. Anyways, am I in the minority’s when I say this album is better than 3001? I still think their earlier mixtapes are best, but so far I’m loving Vacation in h---. We’ll see if it has staying power in my regular rotation. Edit: every time I listen to Flatbush I can’t help but always feel like they’re the new school Onyx to me.
