I hate that awards season basically lasts four months, but I thought the Independent Spirit Awards nominations announced yesterday were interesting enough to warrant posting.

@irbis I was about to write you on letterboxd

Maps To The Statrs (David Cronenberg, 2014)

Very good script, specially the characters , all them are a pain in the a---, however, they are very rich in their own nature. While the film develops into the world of hollywood and famous people, I Feel Map To The Stars tries to focus more on the state of mind of individuals rather than the industry per se, wich off course plays a big part. One of Cronenberg's achievements is how he set the tone of the film, the story goes as normal but you feel those touches of satire that adds a lot to the movie as a whole.

As far as Julianne Moore goes, she's great, one of my favorite actresses of all time. I'm always in the mood to see her, even if i know it will be a bad movie. Hottest 54 year old woman you'll ever see.

Well, it looks like they're all over your bed and desk. Do you already have these films? Are these all the screeners which someone else has? Are you giving us movies? I want Inherent Vice plz.

Checking in. Anybody catch Mr. Turner yet? Love his work, so hopefully his biopic isn't more pandering to the Academy. Awards season is like Movie Pirate Christmas. We eatin' fam.

Seen it a couple months back. It's not really a conventional biopic or anything. Mike Turner, instead, explores the character through different moments that when you piece them together in a narrative, it can only be called "loose". The acting and cinematography is really, really strong, though. It can be a bit hard sometimes, but it's worth it.

That's infinitely more interesting than the Saving Mr. Banks bs I was expecting. Truer to the subject as well. I like the lead already from the British comedy series Snuff Box. I'll check it out tomorrow for sure.
