Jan 26, 2016 1.Taxi Driver-Martin Scorsese 2.Her-Spike Jonze 3.砂の女-Hiroshi Teshigahara 4.The Shining-Stanley Kubrick 5.Castle of Cagliostro-Hayao Miyazaki No country would arguably be my favorite movie of all time if the third act didn't just drop the ball like that and it meandered into some pseudo philosophical fluff (mccarthy books tend to do this, minus Blood Meridian). Everything else before that though was pretty much perfect cinema. From the use of a non soundtrack, to the suspense, acting (coin toss scene in the gas station was perfect), action (hotel-street shootout had me on the edge of my toes) and characterization (it lacks expository dialogue to characterize otherwise blank characters like Llewelyn).
