Oct 25, 2021 I disagree with this completely and wouldn’t equate how much money a game makes with quality or whether or not a dev has fallen off. For micro transaction games it’s usually a very small percentage of the player base (like less than 1%) who continue to drop a fuckton of money on loot boxes and s--- and that’s what continues to make it super profitable. They have the same business model as like f---ing clash of clans and candy crush lol at this point. RDR2 was absolutely a great achievement in video game narratives and I had a great time exploring the world and it’s atmosphere but the core gameplay is really just “serviceable” imo. It’s the same s--- we’ve been playing since GTA3 like I said. Luckily the other elements I mentioned are strong enough to make up for that by far, but at this point the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” attitude toward that is starting to wear thin. The missions are virtually all the same as they’ve been for a long time it’s just the story elements that keep them exciting sans a handful of ones here and there. And I say all this as someone who loved RDR2 start to finish. But rereleasing GTAV over and over and what are looking to be run of the mill “HD” ports of bush admin era games ain’t giving them any good will in my book. Being content run up numbers on micro transactions from 16 year olds using mommy’s credit card doesn’t bode well for the future of the company’s games imo, that’s some EA/call of duty/NBA 2K s---. I’ll always check out their new s--- but prob not as a day one buyer—it would be cool to see some new IPs in addition to RDR3/GTA6. obviously these companies always wanted to be profitable but it’s just unfortunate to see the bottom line so clearly becoming profit from a a company that was once one of the most innovative and influential in the industry in terms of the games themselves.
Oct 26, 2021 I get all that, my gripe is with saying they’ve fallen off. To say that is just 1. Opinion based and 2. Having no understanding of how game development/business works, especially when the same people upset about it are the same ones who will pre order gta 6 for $80 lol. I get your point about the play style being “same old” at this point, but these games have always been like this, and for the most part been wildly successful. I thought their last effort RDR2 was pretty d--- innovative within the “gta style” parameters. I despise micro transactions with games like 2k/Madden, but the difference is, those are quite literally pay to win. You kind of can’t have a full experience without shelling out extra dough on top of your $60 game purchase. Rockstar is forcing nobody to buy anything. They re release GTA5 of course for profit, but also because it’s a wildly popular online mode and they have to cater to new console generations. It’s just the way it is. I guess I don’t understand what people want Rockstar to do? Release a game every other year? Games of their caliber take time! Rdr came out just 3 years ago! I just have 0 understanding of how someone has fallen off when the last 2 efforts they've had were one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time, and the most profitable game of all time; regardless of people’s preferences towards them. On top of that their next effort being one of the more anticipated games of all time. and I agree, after GTA I would love for Rockstar to create some new IPs, maybe even try their hand at more linear games.
Oct 26, 2021 If they're really "REMAKING GTA V", I'm about to go prison for life for bombing Take-Two Interactive Headquarters. And I'm not even joking. I'll do it.
Oct 26, 2021 They are remastering GTAV, not doing a remake. It's just gonna have better graphics and a bunch of Online stuff I guess since that's all people care about these days.
Oct 26, 2021 Falling off is about quality isn’t it & its a pretty wide consensus that the game isn’t at the same quality it used to be, especially story-wise, which is what GTA was. The multiplayer for the most part is played & marketed to children more than anything because it makes them the most money, it doesn’t mean it’s better, they’ve just sold out. Just read @Jermaine Kole Country post, he put it much more eloquently than me lol
Oct 26, 2021 I blame the dumb kids for spending real life money on accessories and other dumb s---. Videogame companies wouldn't be using these scummy practices but since it's so profitable, why the h--- not. It's sad that Rockstar has fallen in the same basket as EA, 2K and some of the more money hungry companies. But i'm for good remasters/remakes. Just refering to in game purchases, re-releasing the same game over and over again and all this online bs (Looking at GTA 5) These days they announce DLCs before the main game is even out (Far Cry 6 for example) As a buyer you can't help but feel like you're being ripped off.
Oct 26, 2021 Breaking news in the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Remaster the voice acting of the Game will be removed because he is a corny rapper and a cuck. Lloyd Banks will replace him #COTI
Oct 26, 2021 we will see, I don't expect a dlc or anything, just better graphics, online content and new music since they sometimes remove tracks
Oct 26, 2021 GTAV and RDR2 were great games, but when it comes to GTA and other games, kids these days just want to play online. New Battlefield doesn't even have a campaign. We're gonna get a new GTA every 10 years since people just want to play online
Oct 26, 2021 Yeah. GTAVI is doomed with this news. I was going to buy the trilogy. Now I'm thinking it over.
Oct 26, 2021 it's a game where you sell drugs, k--- people, cops and hookers but you draw the line at the confederate flag on a white trash character lol
