The NRA can s--- my d-ck. They're only pro-gun for white people. Was just talking to Hasman about this. The Black Panthers standing up at that California statehouse scared the ever living f--- out of white america.

They aren't even pro-gun for anybody. They just utilize pro-gun white people to launder and embezzle millions of dollars.

baed avy @SWERVO can’t scorn the dorn

basically every opinion I’ve had has been covered. Pro gun, pro registration/limitation, anti nra and anti gun measures that disproportionately effect marginalized communities

educating and arming the working class are the two most relevant ways to maintain some sort of power over authoritarians

I grew up in a subsistence lifestyle and have been hunting with guns since I was 6 years ago.

I think basically nobody should have a gun... or at least a lot less people.

We banned guns in the UK 20 some years ago. Now we just get knife and acid attacks.

Of course it's not impossible to get a gun if you know where to look. But it makes it hard and stops the idiotic people who only need to scratch the surface to but one.

So yes, I'm fully against guns. They don't protect you, the don't make you big. They just bring unnecessary pain to the country you live in.

idk why u think this matters. like i get ur point re: minorities and the police, but outside these hyper localized instances - which tbh , again, is the republican argument around the right to bear arms, lets give teachers guns fuckit - in the grand scheme it wont affect or alter the power dynamic in this country. like MAGA thinks bc they bring military weaponry to rallies theyre making some point about their sovereignty. in any real context, it doesnt change anything and in fact contributes to a worse sicker public health discourse. so the opposite of what ur suggesting lol

im with u. i think the whole argument is so pathological and weirdly rhetorical and warped. not saying ,practically, Ban All Guns (though id tbh support progressives if they made that their cause célèbre instead of equally catchy Defund the Police)..... but it should be as hard to access a gun as it is to, say, get a drivers license, or take out a mortgage. or get an abortion.

I think this too don’t get me wrong

I get the conflation but I still think this is a bit of a reach, arming teachers is a knee jerk reaction from a segment of the population that generally can’t comprehend introspection on a personal level much less on a national and societal level. They don’t understand the topic beyond good guys and bad guys with guns.

I, in my not always humble enough opinion, understand the socioeconomic factors that go into an area being a “bad part of town” where you feel the need for self defense, and unlike with school shootings, that doesn’t deter me from the idea of proactive self defense and wanting to put anti-institutional measures in people’s hands during the interim between now and whenever we make meaningful enough change for those concerns to seem less reasonable

tldr the need for a gun in the hood and the need for a gun in junior high aren’t so 1:1 in my eyes to be an “I see your point but...”

that is the primary point imo. I LIKE guns and I would rly LIKE to keep all these cool things that make my pp feel big; but my primary concerns are the political capital it gives the working class and the security it provides for marginalized ppl

Well it's a lot easier to make a mistake when you can just drive to the shop and buy a gun. Having to go through a process to obtain a gun might discourage some people or at least give them time to rethink their decision.

But of course there will always be people who will get one no matter how.
