Jul 25, 2016 Not very good. Especially for being the successor to Eastbound & Down which was decent. Basically Step Brothers and it's really ugly. Anybody see this? Or that new HBO miniseries The Night Of? @MovieSXN
Jul 25, 2016 Yeah, it's solid. Not as good as Eastbound which was brilliant. @Charlie stay losin watching Dogville on repeat. The Night Of is pretty good too.
Jul 26, 2016 It's not really the successor to EB&D. It's a completely different premise. That said, it is funny, but nowhere near as funny as Eastbound. However Walton Goggins has shined in the first two episodes. I've always thought he was underrated having watched his two shows with his biggest roles (Justified & The Shield). I know it's only 18 episodes, and they've already filmed them all. It's supposed to be split into two seasons for Fall and Spring. That being said, I expect it to get better. It's very slow paced but I'm liking the development of Lee Russell being a sadistic MFer. I think this will end up being pretty funny. But if you go in expecting Eastbound & Down, you're definitely gonna be disappointed.
Jul 31, 2016 agreed Walton Goggins is a great actor lol Danny McBride is basically playing waterdown Kenny Powers lol Eastbound & Down still better show imo...but ill definitely watch this...hoping for a Will Ferrell appearance haha (Ashley Shaffer? considering they are in South Carolina) or maybe more Bill Murray?
Jul 31, 2016 I'll give it a shot, charlie doesnt like it so its a good sign and I love danny Mc Bride
Jul 31, 2016 its a typical danny McBride role...he basically plays himself every movie/show hes in lol
Jul 31, 2016 My main issue with it is that it sort of goes into familiar territory. McBride basically plays himself every time like someone else mentioned. But the whole school angle was done in Eastbound & Down and that show had a bigger scope because it was ultimately about Kenny's baseball comeback and all of the places he had to go to make it happen.
Jul 31, 2016 i see where you're coming from, but u could make an argument that season 1 was the best season.
Jul 31, 2016 Even if that's the case, that doesn't mean that the other seasons s----d and it just further shows how familiar the Vice Principals setting is. Been there, done that. Maybe the show will expand beyond the school setting.
Jul 31, 2016 East bound was great although I don't think I watched the last season. I'm enjoying vice principals. But the night of is the show to watch right now
Aug 1, 2016 The first two episodes were really great. I don't think it's fair to compare it to Eastbound & Down yet seeing as how it's so early on and they're only getting started. Eastbound & Down season 4 is obvi the best btw.
Aug 1, 2016 @Vahn @Dew id rank eastbound like this: s3 (myrtle cmon now..) s1 s4 s2 s1 is definitely the most brazen i think. i understand @Tone Riggz's point. I thought the same thing. Oh, Danny McBride cursing at kids. (but idk. he's "watered down" kenny powers, but he's also emasculated and put upon in ways kenny never was. there's enough difference in their characters to keep me interested, even if McBride is more a brilliant comedian than he is a good actor)
Aug 5, 2016 It'd be amazing if Stevie Little played a character in this show. He came out of nowhere and was probably the funniest character on EB&D to me. Walton Goggins continues to shine even in limited screen time lol.
Aug 8, 2016 Weird, season 3 of Eastbound & Down is easily my least favorite. I'd say the few episodes of Vice Principals we've seen have been as good (if not better) than EB&D's average episode quality.
