Oct 15, 2016 using that rationale just isnt how you analyse art to me, ever diehard movies arent goat because of their first week blockbuster figures who gives a s--- about that look at the CONTENT are the singles good songs? thats what matters not how far up a list they got
Oct 15, 2016 But he only has 2 cemented classic albums? Doesn't stack up much to the work of The Roots, Kanye, Outkast, Weezy etc
Oct 15, 2016 i'd say they were in his full discog, but trying to use them for any valid points in an argument is silly
Oct 15, 2016 If Eminem (sorry for bringing him up repeatedly but he's a good example) died the day after TES released would people to this day be talking about how perfect his discog supposedly was or would they be saying he had 3 great albums and infinite, that he had an almost perfect discog if it wasn't for that poor cheap solo release before Dre signed him? the first one.
Oct 15, 2016 keep in mind you're on a forum where its commonplace to see comments like 'Kendrick has one good album' or 'TPAB s----d' lol
Oct 15, 2016 I agree, but again-- I just had a conversation about this with a coworker earlier this month or swore to me that Eminem was the 'greatest' because of how popular and successful he is. And this wasn't an idiot telling me this, just someone who perceived GOATness in that way.
Oct 15, 2016 Most people would probably never have heard Infinite since it was a different era. But if they wanted to be correct they would mention the existence of Infinite.
Oct 15, 2016 What you consider correct or not is irrelevant. In this situation what the general populous does would be how everything was accepted, and that's 99% or so of people never mentioning Infinite and calling Em's discog perfect, flawless, or whatever have you
Oct 15, 2016 you clearly haven't seen the video. They're saying there isn't a single rapper with a 4 album streak as acclaimed as Kendrick (and that it is considered as his discography, because, once again...the hip hop community doesn't give a f--- about mixtapes) and that 2 of these albums are classics. They even mention Jay-Z as a potential goat who had to drop 6 albums in order to have 2 classics.
Oct 15, 2016 So just because the majority says something it means it's correct? That's some great logic.
Oct 15, 2016 this is the kind of stuff that just makes talking about hip hop annoying to me honestly people like that should stick to talking about sports or something art and success are different if you're talking about who the most popular rappers ever are thats not even a discussion you could just look up an objective list if ur actually talking about music thats a discussion
Oct 15, 2016 notice how I said in this situation. Whether you think it's correct or not doesn't matter, we're dealing with whether hip hop fans care about certain albums/mixtapes in a discography such as Kendrick's early tapes or Infinite. You're misinterpreting what I said.
Oct 15, 2016 my flawless logic suggests using The KL Ep as his first proper album, as thats when he ditched the kdot label and started making music as kendrick lamar
Oct 15, 2016 I'm not arguing that though, I don't give a f--- I'm only talking about what is correct.
