Nov 30, 2014 after saying curtis is better than massacre i know your opinion about grodt isn't a classic is r-----ed
Nov 30, 2014 I define classic albums as influential and/or unanimously appreciated (by heads/artists/critics, not plebs). GRODT easily meets both criteria. - Wu-Tang is massively overrated as a group. - Guru was boring as f---.
Nov 30, 2014 please please please please please please even try to defend the Wu point. people who call Guru boring are all under 20, in my experience. those Gangstarr records have more replay value than lots of respected work from that time; if you can't see that, it's probably the listener's fault, not Guru's.
Nov 30, 2014 Wu-Tang have 1.5 consistent albums and their solo careers far outweigh their work together. I liked g--- Starr more when I was 15 than I do now. DJ Premier carried that group. Guru rhymed throughout the 90s like he was still in the 80s. I like his monotonous delivery in comparison to his (lack of) content. Dude was lyrical oatmeal.
Nov 30, 2014 there's more knowledge in those Gangstarr records than in most 90s (or any decade) rap. you're not listening. dismissing Wu-Tang's group work is nakedly contrarion. we canonize rappers with one great album. how many records are better than 36 Chambers? ever? the fact is that almost no rap groups with three members survive, never mind one with nine people.
Nov 30, 2014 Guru had no personality. Saying he "spat knowledge" is a barbershop defense. His skill is exaggerated by the group he was a part of. 36 Chambers is one of my favorite albums, but it doesn't solidify their discography. The posse is legendary; the group is on par with Cannibal Ox.
Nov 30, 2014 i don't want to hear nas on any new songs cause he's an old artist and im tryna listen to that new new so when i see him featured on a track and everybody praising it im just like
Nov 30, 2014 I'm forgive you because you're 16 lol. But Nas is better than anyone else in rap. Anyone.
