main complaint i'm seeing is how unrealistic the show gets this season (which we see glimpses of towards the end of s1)

It's bad, but it's not that bad. At the very least, watching Spacey and Wright do their thing is still entertaining in season 2.

Doubt it will ever be as good as the first season again tbh

last few episodes of s2 pretty good. enjoying this finale so far.

as a whole though, s2 was significantly worse than s1. a lot of the dialogue was reallllly lazily written too.

regardless, it wasn't as bad as I've seen other shows fall off (dexter, prison break). expecting a pretty decent s3

Season 2 wasn't that bad. Definitely a drop from the prior season though. If that 30 second trailer is anything to go by then i'm expecting a pretty good third season.

    can't wait, to be honest.
S2 didn't stand up to any serious scrutiny, but it was great for a binge watch.
I watched the first two seasons again over the last few weeks and they're BOTH kind of ridiculous, but S2 definitely went way off the rails in terms of being believable and the dialogue was incredibly hokey through much of it.
gonna watch S3 all at one time and enjoy it for what it is (hopefully) and hope that it makes a comeback from S2 in terms of a more in depth viewing.

best part of S2 was seeing Rachel and the churchy girl together

Just watched Season 1 for the first time. Man was this over-hyped. Directing was mostly excellent but other than that... This seemed really lazily written. Dialogue kept flip-flopping between excellent and "who the f--- talks like this?", not to mention the tendency to dip into pure plot exposition. Character development was... weird? I don't feel like I know anything about a lot of these people and you can't really tell what anybody's motive for doing anything is except maybe Russo and Underwood. Everybody just kind of does things just to keep the plot moving. And even with so much plot progression the episodes just blend together.. Like, what separates episode 2 from 3? 4 from 7? I don't remember because there wasn't anything really distinct about any of them (with the exception of one character death, which was really close to "jump the shark" territory). Kevin Spacey is good but nowhere near as great as I was expecting. Corey Stoll was f---ing amazing tho, easily had the best performance.

I was mostly entertained, but this was nowhere near as good as I was expecting it to be.

Also, almost every subplot regarding Claire was atrocious. The affair with photography boy, the lawsuit, the pregnancy bit, the f---ing origami bs, ugh.

it is perfect binge watching material, but it will never go down as a complex and intricately told story of well drawn characters like we've come to expect from modern television drama

Will never not love the first season.

Two episodes into the third now. Mostly liked what I've seen. Only problem so far is...

Doug being alive. Killing him off was only the second time in the entire show up until this point where I've felt progressive movement in the plot NOT based around Frank or Claire. Keeping him alive is such obvious backpedaling from the writers that it makes me wonder just how confident they were in writing this season. Him literally doing nothing just chilling at home makes it that much worse.
