Jun 26, 2017 my logic also included AFL not being in the picture but yes i actually do think that given enough time if they were both on in winter for long enough you wouldnt see them become equal, but there wouldnt be a huge drop off in quality

Jun 26, 2017 AFL made a landmark deal with China and I think they'll air more over there as well. And then there's talks of an exhibition game in India so yeah the league's trying to penetrate the international market right now.

Jun 26, 2017 I don't think AFL will ever be an international sport, not at a serious level. Rugby league has the world wide appeal of being similar enough to union to appeal to Union fans but has the high pace and intensity that union rarely offers the layman who isnt interested in a tactical territory based game. I think in the next 10-20 years Rugby League will continue to grow internationally but I can't see AFL really taking off. Just my 2c
