Big Quint is for the casual observers of music that just want something simple and funny looking, ain't nobody trying to read lengthy dissertations that you find on P4K :jordanlaff:

Crazy thing is that Needledrop is exactly in between there but his face makes me want to punch my screen

Isn’t mainstream gaming journalism pretty corrupt anyway? Like they’re afraid to give games from big companies bad scores cuz then they’ll pull their early access next time

the two most musically influential albums of kanye's career were wildly divisive when they dropped and remain that way

"When James Joyce's career is over, I just don't see people saying "wow, he was a great writer and someone we'll always remember"
i'm a better critic than fantano because i do better criticism than fantano: more thoughtful, more rooted in history and context, more incisive

    cant be proven wrong
(also before paul calls 69 a pedo, a 17 yo girls sent a lewd pic to 69 and 69 sent it to his m8. He is being charged with distributing, but his counter-claim is that he didn't know she was underage because he didn't get a nude pic and go "hey excuse me but could you please give me your ID so I know this is legal?")

but real talk, sales obviously do matter to a very large degree. if we qualify the value of reviews in what they provide as far as opportunities, then the value of sales dwarfs that.

drake is the most transcendent artist in the history of the genre. if we're talking about the most important artists in the history of the genre, drake is top 5 top 5 top 5 (no debating). rap is most consumed musical art form, and drake is the biggest rap and pop artist in the world. man never rode the way, he helped propel it. his success has (to whatever minimal degree, but still notably) helped provide opportunity for the entire industry.

No, he called me out of desperation, dude. He needed my help. Like, I thought he was suicidal. So keep talking so superior but I saved a life that day. What have you ever done?

(besides post a patheticcccccc video of yourself in a hot tub, rambling about bs like a hillbilly)

In like high school I used to really care about reviews. Would only listen to stuff that was well received by critics and would refuse to accept or approve of music that wasn’t. Years later, I still enjoy reading and listening to reviews but I don’t necessarily let them influence my opinion. Sometimes it may point something out that does, but for the most part, if I enjoy listening to something I’m gonna like it regardless of what reviews say. I can enjoy listening to artists like J Cole or Drake and still acknowledge that they have several flaws. Idk if that makes total sense lol.

when art is polarizing, that speaks more the the digestibility of that piece rather than the quality.

young thug and kendrick lamar are equally talented, but one makes a more consumable product, or at least one that appeals to a larger audience.

good criticism isn't prescriptive––it takes the artist's goals into account.

lately since I started working 9-5 and living alone in my own place I only keep up with music magazines etc to know what is going on with music and to listen to these reviewed albums, no matter the score etc.

For example I found this on twitter lately, either WPG or Big Cuntry liked some post with this link, and it has a lot of really valuable content to me: new artists! https://www.passionweiss.com/2018/07/10/pow-freshmen-15/ but its not a review tho

yea idk where am i going with this post, what I meant to say is I follow p4k etc cause these people have so much more time than me to keep up with music (its their job), and I can know whats ging on etc without putting much effort in it. Like Im way more likely to read some review of an album from some dude I never heard about than, for example, Drake
