good criticism isn't prescriptive––it takes the artist's goals into account.

when art is polarizing, that speaks more the the digestibility of that piece rather than the quality.

young thug and kendrick lamar are equally talented, but one makes a more consumable product, or at least one that appeals to a larger audience.

Don't your leftist politics inform your writing to a fairly large degree? I'd say so.

Isn't the real reason you're so critical of Fantano because you think he's a closet nazi?

Didn't you stop championing Taylor Swift when it became ambiguous whether or not she was a Trump supporter?

Didn't you increasingly underrate Eminem's albums over the last number of years because of his misogynistic/homophobic lyrics and most of all because of his whiteness, coincident with your increasing radicalization?

i've been vocal about fantano being a terrible hack since looooooooong before any of that other stuff came to light. he's bad at his job.
i stopped championing taylor swift when she stopped making good music.
    lmao

no, not at all. and as i've written––which you should know, since you're a mentally unstable shut-in who's obsessed with me––i've flagged em's post-comeback homophobia as a creative problem, not a moral one, since it's usually a transparent attempt to recapture the provocative image he had and lost.

    @Big Dangerous

He talks about how Kanye's wrote the album really fast so he's unfiltered and raw like he didn't also write most of yeezus and TLOP three days before they came out

He says that the production on ye is similar to Daytona :ummmm:

He says "it's the most intimate and unguarded he's been since the college dropout"

    On "All Mine":
"ye still sounds like a TOTAL MONSTER on the track" like what 12 year old wrote this
"this is the first time he's really talked about his sex addiction" sdgalylgwfualgskdg

Every time he "talks about the music" it's just adjective vomit like "the glamorous keys are tasteful" ok cool what does that mean or say about anything

He just referred to kid cudi as "the cudster" :shmurda:

"people who are fans the person/artist are gonna enjoy this, people who are more into his music for the image he puts up and illusions of grandeur will be disappointed." what the f--- does this even mean with regard to kanye's output?

"kanye doesn't try to be anyone but the broken troubled person that he is" like....when has this NOT been true? Has fantano EVER listened to another kanye album? Because a lot of what he says in this review in general just...isn't true? It's at the very least a bad take by someone who hasn't spent enough time with his catalogue to make these judgements.

And so I listened to this review and...what am I left with? Did this make me think about the album differently, or life, or culture, or music, or anything? Was there any substance here that I didn't take in from listening to it myself? Did I learn anything (aside from the fact that Fantano hasn't listened to a Kanye album before)? Did it make me think...at all?

I agree with this completely. No one listens to young thug and he isn’t popular to everyone Ik including people who host college parties that don’t bump his material. I honestly don’t known of anyone who likes his music locally.

He’s only known as a lil Wayne rip off. He definitely copied Wayne’s style when he first started coming up. Guy released hundreds of songs and he never really had a big hit single done on his own. You have to really know hip hop to know who young thug is.

No legitely at least at Pitt, no one bumped his music or knew who he was. This is the only place where people praise young thug like he’s some huge well known amazing artist. That song with meek mill digits his one lyric is about someone farting. He’s garbage and can’t write a hit himself and never has and never will. Especially now. He had a chance to blow up like 2 years ago and failed.

I know tons of people who listen to rap everyday and they don’t f--- with young thug. Deal with it. Anything he currently makes doesn’t chart worth s---. You just hate drake and hold a grudge because of his success after the Pusha beef. A BILLION streams. Pusha under 80k album sales lololololol Pusha is a fake loser

In like high school I used to really care about reviews. Would only listen to stuff that was well received by critics and would refuse to accept or approve of music that wasn’t. Years later, I still enjoy reading and listening to reviews but I don’t necessarily let them influence my opinion. Sometimes it may point something out that does, but for the most part, if I enjoy listening to something I’m gonna like it regardless of what reviews say. I can enjoy listening to artists like J Cole or Drake and still acknowledge that they have several flaws. Idk if that makes total sense lol.

So it’s cool to listen to rappers like young thug rap about all the drugs they do but having a legit prescription for medical reasons makes you a creep? Very illiterate post. Coming from the creep who picked up stinky narsh while it was raining and offered to buy and drink beer with him. Desperate for friends I guess? Idk pretty awkward.
