I find the 96 Bulls compared to the 16 Warriors to be ridiculous

The only one that 'might' have a chance against MJ is Iguodala.

Warriors are a deeper team than the 95-96 bulls, bulls have better star power but only cuz MJ's way better than Curry right now. But Klay's a much more dangerous scorer than Pippen ever was and Draymond Green's better offensively than Rodman...Green and Klay are also both elite defenders and top 10 in the league on that side of the ball (not quite to Rodman and Pippen's level though).

I don't understand what the warriors have to do to start getting credit from some of you...

If your argument is 'the NBA is softer nowadays' or something then fine, I get it..But the Warriors can't control the era they play in nor can anyone else lol. So the NBA being softer isn't really a good argument against them to me.

Michael Jordan is the most overrated athlete in sport and is only respected inside of the USA.

With that said, the 96 bulls would still win.

He's respected worldwide mate. I'm no Jordan knob jockey but how is he only respected inside the US and overrated as an athlete?

I shouldn't have said he isn't respected outside the US, just more like he's overrated inside the US

I think he's earned the right to be rated as highly as he has. His accolades, stats and athletic feats stack up really well.

MJ is still the GOAT. He did what he liked. That being said, I reckon the standard of a professional athlete has increased over the years. Curry, LeBron etc. are playing in a more competitive league.

How do guys think the '16 Thunder and/or the '16 Cavs would match up against the '96 Utah Jazz?

LeBron needs a sip of Michael Jordan's special stuff to save the Cavs.

I agree to a certain extent. I still think MJ is probably the GOAT, but the idea that he's seen as the undisputed GOAT and no one else is even close is crazy to me. Also just the way he's STILL basically the most relevant player in basketball and talked about on a very regular basis is crazy as well, imo he made an incredible mark no other athlete in the 4 major sports can really say they have in the past 30-40 years or so.

But still I bet Jordan gets talked about at least 10x more than any other retired HOF player in the NBA ever, and that's why to me it's fair to call him overrated in that sense. He's probably the best ever, but he's NOT on another planet so far away that no one else has ever landed on it or even come close lol, many fans and the media talk about him that way though.

But he plays a sport that only one country takes seriously.

You think his stats are impressive, but there is 1000 footballers more impressive considering the competitiveness of the sport on a world stage. Only an American would claim MJ > Messi

And just so you don't think I have some soccer bias, I'm from Australia where soccer and basketball fall pretty far under the radar. I'm just being objective.

Basketball is taken seriously across the globe it's just the NBA is the pinnacle of that and so happens to be in America.

Whoever claims MJ > Messi or vice versa is stupid anyways you can't compare two different sporting athletes. They measure up different athletically speaking and both dominated their respective sport which utilises different types of athleticism.

There is no country that takes basketball seriously like the USA. Its like the "world series" NFL. Remind me again who in the world cares, other than America?

To say Jordan is the greatest athlete of all-time asks for comparisons. Comparisons he will fail to live up to because there are many other athletes just as good if not better than him. Muhammad Ali is just one of many.

Spain, Italy, Argentina, France... their leagues aren't on the same level as NBA of course but most if not all of their best players end up in the NBA. The NBA has a pretty healthy representation of non-Americans in it's league.

I don't think he fails to live up to the discussion of GOAT at all.

I'm Aussie and ball is life. All my mates play it together and it's all we talk about. It's actually a really popular sport to play socially here. Soccer is growing rapidly here as well.

And who really cares about people saying MJ is the best athlete ever. IMO Chad Wingard is :')

:503: My point is people are bias.

Dw I know behind that laugh are tears because you don't have a player that can run & carry through the midfield who can also be aerial threat, deadly on the ground, dead eye and have no unprefered foot. :fresh:
