Mar 21, 2017 Samples can come from everywhere, don't limit the source. People can sample from obscure TV shows, soundbites, sounds, anything really. And samples aren't just for hip-hop beats either. I'm struggling right now to think of a song off the top of my head but there's countless songs from a wide array of genres that implements samples. And to the final point, I feel like if you sample something and reinvent/give the sample a new life that it's your creation for sure. Just something to consider. Have you tried sampling before?
Mar 21, 2017 i don't listen to/watch anything that people would consider obscure lol, and tv shows soundbites etc... none of that kind of stuff has any real impact on me so it's not something i'd remember well enough to think to sample. and i mean i've sampled if we're talking like sound effects and the like, i do that all the time and have for years all across my music but as far as sampling a song? only once really and this only happened because MW Music sent me the specific samples
Mar 21, 2017 I would like to see a mix of all 4 of their albums but primarily Homework since it's their most consistent and enjoyable effort.
Mar 21, 2017 I had a dream that Kanye announced yeezus 2. The cover and announcement video was all blue and red, neon s--- like starboy, we were hyped af it was so f---ing lit. And then the album came out and first song was featuring Jay z and nav, Kanye didn't have a verse. Jiggas were waa really s-----y, worse than monster verse, literally bragging about being billionaire for 2 minutes, and nav was singing some bs hook. And the other 5 songs werent even songs, it was all silence, we were so f---ing pissed off. And then Kanye tweeted: "y'all heard Yeezy season's approaching? f--- whatever y'all been hearing" and then I woke up s--- was wild don't go to sleep drunk after browsing sxn80 and listening to yeezus
Mar 21, 2017 not gonna lie, i've never listened to a daft punk album (even tho i have a couple downloaded). their style's never really clicked with me aside from some of their more popular songs also pretty sure in order to even go about creating that style, i'd have to be sampling
Mar 21, 2017 I'd suggest listening to Discovery. It's a great album. It has some of their most well known songs on it.
Mar 21, 2017 Nope... I just enjoy Homework more. Discovery tells a story, has a funky feeling and succeeds in creating a world where music has no judgmental value. That alone makes it a classic but I'm more of a grimy house guy.
Mar 21, 2017 oh yeah if you're trying to expand your abilities try to make some kid cudi atmospheric s---, very few do it well
Mar 21, 2017 It's understandable... There are a lot of songs that s--- because the sample is familiar but I just want to say this. I sample to prove a point that I can take a sample and make it less recognizable, I'm not making hits here. Surprisingly I use samples and have never gotten into any copyright trouble (even though it's risky); even on SoundCloud. I fear they may sue me but despite that, I sample and proud of it yeah.
Mar 24, 2017 reminds me of something troye sivan would b on, i might give it a go eh, i'm not a super big fan of edm like this tbh
