Jan 7, 2016 You don't have to be the best artist of your generation to be the face of your generation. Honestly, Travis Scott might be the face of this new, younger generation.
Jan 7, 2016 You guys are overlapping too much. Era's a weird term since most of these guys are still active, but to me it's guys who came up and ran the game during the same period. Kanye's "era" would include like Lupe, Wayne, 50 etc. Drake's would be K Dot, Cole, Sean, Future.
Jan 7, 2016 Yeah I'm inclined to say Kanye is, closely followed by Drake. They both influence a majority of the new school sound. Props to the Lupe reference though, that man doesn't get the credit he deserves
Jan 7, 2016 My point is nobody considered him the face or worthy of being the face until the early 2000s. His prime ran parallel with the others I mentioned. It's not perfect, but it's more accurate than putting him in Drake's era.
Jan 8, 2016 I'm thinking that right now it's Drake, Kendrick, and oddly, I think Travis Scott is holding the Kid Cudi MOTM era spot, he's artsy and likes to sing (more autotune than Cudi though but he uses it so well) plus he speaks to his era. You could argue the same for Future, and to a lesser extent Young Thug.
