"A couple more years that s---'ll be Illmatic"

Hear me out, I had this thought a while back but never posted it.

I often see people saying how Eminem's album have not aged well, which is very true. I struggle to even get through MMLP or TES without feeling a somewhat sense of boredom or being distracted by something else.

But with Encore, I don't get that feeling. Unfortunately there are some tracks on there that we have to put up with so that's why I'm focusing on songs that are okay-great. For example:

    Never Enough
    Yellow Brick Road
    Like Toy Soldiers
    Mosh
    Spend Some Time
    Mockingbird
    Encore
    We As Americans
    Love You More

A lot of these songs I tend to enjoy more than some of his classics. Production is great, focused more on story telling and focused less on rhyming a lot. A lot of these songs I really enjoy and I always see people praising certain songs on here whereas a lot of songs on his best albums don't even get a mention.

So I return to my question when I ask, is Encore Eminem's most well aged album?

You only feel that way cause you didn't give it as much spins as the other albums. It's the closes app out can find to new em music.

    Nah I wouldn't say so.

I think there's a lot of difference of opinion by what we all mean when we say 'aged', like something aging well...

Some people mean references n s---. To me that's meaningless. Whether he's saying Britney Spears or Lady GaGa, who gives a s--- - that doesn't make something feel dated to me, it's like [insert equivalent here] / meaningless.

I find density to be the biggest factor in aging - as in - dense rap and s--- with attention to detail and which took a lot of care to make... ages well. And that's why all of his first 3 classics have aged well for me. As I can listen to them any time, and all the material still feels powerful and engaging, even though it's 15-18 years old.

Sounds, can feel dated, like; if particular trends of production are happening at the time, s--- can feel dated in that way - but - I don't really feel any of his first 3 followed any particular sound of the times, most of the beats were kind of moulded around Eminem's melodies or a collaboration in that way, and very loud and crisp instrumentation on MMLP + TES, so both of those albums in particular still sound very clean to me.

I think most of us are going to agree on Recovery aging the worst, and I think it will definitely be the standout of aging badly in his catalogue - which is what I mean about quality; I think that's the case because everything on that album was done quickly - first punchlines which came to his head, lazy writing, quick popular beats and samples... the craft and quality is zero in comparison to The Trilogy, and so it's aging like s--- because the holes become even more apparent as time goes on.

So yeah, I think really only Recovery and some of MMLP2 are going to age badly, for me. Relapse hasn't / wont for me either, as like his first 3... it's very unique. Nothing else sounds like that s--- anyway, and the s--- is detailed and laboured-over as f---, so I can still crank the s--- out of that today and it's not too far from the feeling of 'I'm just hearing this for the first time', even though the s--- is nearly a decade old.

It's not that it's aged well. This album just isn't as overplayed as the rest so the good songs on it still stand up whereas the great songs on the other albums have been played to death.

That's mainly because you have listened MMLP & TES like thousand times to this day. I mean for me, I probably did listen to those more than any album ever. As for Encore not so much. So of course I'd prefer Encore to listen to rn. Encore is pretty decent album and definitely aged better than Relapse & Recovery.

    Nope.

    Not in my bible sir.

Encore is a million miles away from Relapse creatively, contextually, and lyrically.

Then again, that's just my opinion. Who gives a f---?? lol.

Yes, An awkward faceoff between Mathers the prankster and Mathers the cultural and would-be political agitator.
is beefs have become so infinitesimal that he’s started to unconsciously parody our LiveJournal culture, a minor event or misunderstanding generating reams of dialogue, running commentary and painstaking minutiae. In short, he’s no more compelling than one of those non-famous drama queens in your life you already find insufferable, just another loser who blows up non-events, and it’s transformed the long-running Eminem Show into the most myopic, hand-wringing, self-reflexive stuck-in-the-mud soap opera of our time.
