Nov 29, 2017I don't think Kanye is quite good enough as an out-and-out rapper to be any sort of consensus pick as the greatest. He's still good enough to be one of the genre's best artists ever but not quite good enough to be the consensus greatest, you know? At least to me.

I feel like Kanye is the easiest to defend just looking at his body of work and consistency in reinventing his sound.Goku187, soul intent, Ordinary Joel and 1 other person like this. -

Yeah I'd say it's pretty easy to make the argument that Jay is the best of all time. He's got classics in every decade since the 90s even if there are a couple duds.
His last project was Idlewild, but it's true he's killed every feature since thenLil Squeed, Ordinary Joel, Big Dangerous and 1 other person like this. -

I read the first few pages and just skipped to the end or else I'd have liked every @WPG post in here.
Pac is my absolute favorite rapper of all-time but objectively Jay is the GOAT for all the reasons that have already been mentioned and the fact that he f---ing destroyed a prime 2001 Eminem on a track. Like, obliterated.
In all seriousness WPG would you rank GKMC ahead of The Blueprint or The Black Album?Ordinary Joel, Vos and WPG like this.Nov 25, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Honestly I'll take this as a compliment.
I have to deal with confrontations and discussions at work on a daily basis. And in 90% of the cases both sides are right in their own way because they look at things from different perspectives. Of course I will agree with one side more but if I try to place myself into the other I can see what they mean.
I honestly think that reflects my posting as well. More people said that I 'avoid' confrontations and try to please everyone but that's not the the case at all. I truly believe that everyone looks at things based on their own experience/view and I try to respect that as much as possible. To an extent obviously lol.
But yeah call me passive agressive or whatever, I don't feel like arguing opinions acting like mine means more than others. Discussing, fine. Arguing, I don't feel like that at all.Ordinary Joel, DKC and Big Dangerous like this.Nov 25, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I started really listening to rap in 2007 (I was 15). I went back listening to classics and loved them. But I can also appreciate future etc. I truly fail to understand why people can't enjoy both older rap and modern day. Both are great in their own way imoChigzzer, Ordinary Joel and DKC like this.Nov 25, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Well, as Ben said it's hard to find a close analogy cuz we're comparing one genre that primarily exists in one country that's been around for 40 years to a whole medium that's been around for 100 in many countries. But the reason why my gut said 'no' is because I don't think a serious rap critic would scoff at MBDTF in the top 25 but a serious film critic would scoff at shawshank in a top 25 list.
basically: MBDTF, I would say, is in the upper echelon of rap. shawshank is not in the upper echelon of film. but they're definitely both common mainstream picks for #1 by people with a limited scope on their respective medium/genre.Ordinary Joel, Michael Myers and Bourbon Ben like this. -
