Is Rap Ironically becoming too Complex for its own good?

That doesn't correlate at all. If life is losing meaning to you, the meaning doesn't or won't exist anymore not your life itself. If something loses it's meaning, it's existence is dwindling. I'm not saying losing meaning connotes to hip hop not existing

You still haven't explained how the progression of a genre makes for the regression of it's meaning

What part does more abstract approach and stylistic range when applied to a genre centered on lyrics and concepts leading to incoherency do you not understand??

It's that f---ing simple. You can disagree but to act like that isn't easy to understand is literally r-----ed.

I literally posted from mobile while walking, it's not an essay I'm just trying to share something I thought of and start discussions.

So the genre is regressing because you perceive lyrics that aren't straight forward to be incoherent and the abstract sound of certain songs in the genre cause the whole genre to suffer. Lol.

Rap becoming too complex doesn't make it's meaning to be lost or does it make the genre suffer. It has made the genre flourish more than ever. There's something for everyone. Not only that but the most popular rap music is the least complex it's been since the 70s. You're talking in circles and you haven't made sense in anything you've said

When something is complex, it's ability to be understood is relative. That doesn't make that something illogical in itself. Put that to the side the most complex rap music is far from the mainstream eye so I don't understand how it would even effect the whole genre let alone make it worse. If the radio was flooded with Aesop Rocks then OP would make a little more sense but still wouldn't really. Artists finding new ways to express their art doesn't make the art lose it's meaning or cause it to regress. I don't understand how anyone could even have this opinion as little sense as it makes

I see current rap going more for puns/metsphors in favour of multis. So in some ways you could say that's more "complex" i guess

I definitely see your point, and it's something I've thought about recently. I also can't really understand how people aren't able to comprehend your post after thoroughly reading. Overall well said.

Anyhow, (and although I may be stemming off the main point addressed in OP). I can most definitely agree it's become too 'abstract' for lack of a better term, which isn't necessarily a bad thing in proportion, and as stated by someone in here "sub genres of hip-hop pushes the culture forward", or something along the lines of that. True, everyone has different taste in music, which inevitably breaks down to judgement of the lyrics being spoken. And I'm sure some people without a doubt would draw closer to something that they're able to identify with personally, as it's open to interpretation. However, it's become extremely excessive nowadays. It gets very repetitive and overall boring. The genre is losing its original appeal.

Essentially, it's that Twenty One Pilots tumblr-esque bs I've got a problem with, and consistently seeing it in newer artists work.

How do you guys not understand the statement?

I feel like the substance and meaning behind the music is still there, regardless of the experimental differences
