Re-introducing the Dark/Night theme/skin.


Scroll to the bottom of the forums and you should now have the option for "Style Chooser":
UPDATE: we've just moved the style/theme chooser to the same place as the background selector today (and removed it from the footer):







it makes more sense grouped up here, is easier to access, and more appropriately groups the sections in the footer.

Choose from "Day" or "Night" themes/skins/styles

A lot of time went into re-creating something that had previously been lost. we really only had one screenshot to work from when attempting to recover what was once here, but i think it turned out pretty d--- good... i'll be continuing to make some minor tweaks, but feel free to begin using it today. Please report any nuances in this thread here and we'll get em sorted out.

Apologies that it took so long to get this back up and running -- we've had a lot on our plates here lately. Thanks for being patient. Hope you like it.

Implemented a few changes:

1. The homepage feed now has the option to show all threads with latest posts, rather than just the threads with unread posts. i.e., previously once you viewed a thread and it was no longer "new" to you, it would no longer show on the homepage; now, you can opt-in to change that and to show all threads with latest posts, regardless of whether you've read the thread/post already.
   • The old (2.0) version of the homepage won't return -- I gave it a lot of thought (+ dug into the code for several hours on multiple attempts) and the only thing gained by reverting would be to see the single (1) latest post from the sxn. That change would come at the expense of seeing all of the threads with latest posts. Hope this is a compromise. Plz stop bitching now.
2. Status updates on mobile is now functioning. Have at it.
3. Clicking on a user's name will now open their profile in a new window. Member "cards" (the little pop-up) won't return, but this will get you to their info/page without having to sacrifice taking you away from the content you're currently viewing.

Future/upcoming changes:

1. will clean up the emojis so that they load quicker
2. going to re-visit adding the display of "users viewing thread"

Welcome.

3.0 is us really taking a step back and re-evaluating what a forum should be, versus what has largely become a cookie cutter standard of visual & feature content. Every function, feature, screen, and activity has been re-worked -- mostly entirely from the ground up. We tried to keep (and build upon) as many familiar concepts as possible, while introducing a cleaner experience that invokes more discussion in a quicker, easier way.

Shoutouts to Loyalty for getting the ball rolling and being available for the many (often stupid) coding questions I had along the way and for doing the heavy lifting and day-long coding sessions when I couldn't at times, to Koolo for never wanting to see this fail and for keeping things afloat while I was neck-deep in 3.0, and to Hasman for blessing us with a visual foundation to run with -- if it weren't for the sheer beautiful concept that was crafted, I very likely wouldn't have seen this through (that's truth). And last, but very not least shoutout to all of the Staff who have provided input, testing, images, writings, & feedback throughout the last year and a half of progress. As of a few days ago, there were over 3,000 replies to the several 3.0 related discussion threads in the staff sxn.

To give a little context, 2.0 launched January 18th, 2016, and we had already started a thread on January 3rd (pre-launch) discussing what we were then calling "version 2.5"...and almost all of those ideas were morphed over time and implemented into what you see in their final 3.0 version here today.

I've easily put more of myself into this than any personal project I've undertaken before. And it’s easily taken 10x’s the number of development hours as 2.0 did. I really hope you like it. Sorry for the wait.

1- when you create threads in Music sxn now, you will be required to pick a prefix, it has artists prefix so pick wisely, if the artist you want to use isnt there either tag a staff to add that prefix if the artist big enough, or just use hip hop prefix

2- you can use filter to make that sxn only for the artist you want, for example

clicking on those prefix will only show threads for these n----s threads

3- you can still ignore threads based on an artist, you can find it here

this is in place. the main artist sxns aggregate into the Music sxn now. from the Music sxn, you can click on the artist to filter (i.e., jump to the artist child sxn) to view just that artist's threads & pinned threads (essentially the same view as what artist sxns were before).

when creating a new thread in the music sxn, you'll get a new pop-up asking which artist/sxn you'd like to post into. if you're already in the artist child sxn and create a thread, it will be to that artist.

expect a few minor changes -- i'm going to finish fixing a few things up tomorrow.
