Sep 10, 2018 Extremely sad that they will never reunite or reconcile ever again. And I still can't, for the life of me, understand why. The chemistry. The trade-off cooperative cadences. That was back when Michael Watts was killin' it, too. Swishahouse Era Houston was actually ace as f---.
Sep 10, 2018 Yea you’re spot on. I had just moved to Houston in 2002 so I had a ton of fun watching the Houston rap scene go national with all those artists in the mid 2000s. I’m from the northeast originally so I’m mostly a NY east coast hip hop head but Houston produced some absolute classics from the 90s until like 2010 or whatever. Back when Watts was killing it, his whole movement (along with the late DJ Screw) heavily influenced lil Wayne and Drake. s--- was so dope back then. These days, I wonder if the really young kids sleep on all the classic Houston s---? Out of all the Houston rappers, by far Cham was my favorite. I wish he was still making music. That dude is soooo slept on. After they squashed their beef, I vaguely remember Cham and Paul Wall did a little reunion tour, maybe 8 years ago or so? But I totally agree, I wish they would go back into the studio one more time. They’re chemistry was d--- near flawless and they complimented each other perfectly. Oh well, at least we got GYMC and Controversy Sells.
Sep 10, 2018 Chamilitary, MAAAAAYYNNNNE! And like that, it's 2005 to me all over again. Wish there was a time machine. I grew up as a Navy Brat in Virginia. Lived there for 5 years in my early youth. Was unironically into The Swing Mob scene. Jodeci. Ginuwine. Timbaland. Missy Elliott. All of that. But The Geto Boys "Mind Playing Tricks On Me" classic was played around me so many times in my early youth that my respect for Houston had already been ingrained in my brain before I even truly realized it. Moved back to The D when I was close to 8. Between The Early Ages of 2 to 8. Actually almost 6 years in VA. d--- I miss it. When Grindin' came out, while I was back in my birthplace of Detroit, I was subconsciously thinking to myself like, "And they'll still remain narcoleptic and resort to convenient amnesia, as it pertains to being able to acknowledge that The DMV got some noteworthy flavor for your ears, dears! Lord-Willin', talents are Lion of Judah, Messiah-Sworn-and-Given!" Wayne stealin' some sauce from Static Major right before he is declared deceased just further proves my point. Bring that man back, lawd.
