Third doctor's visit. Got the pain under control finally. It's the worst case of swimmer's ear the physician said they've ever seen and the jaw pain and swelling is likely from it flaring up my TMJ. So the inflammation likely isn't the result of an infection as I've never run a temperature (good outlock for not going permadeaf).

They prescribed me drops that I can use regardless of whether my ear drum is ruptured or not. I suspect it is but the canal is still too swollen to see. I stopped taking the drops the ER prescribed because they are the drops that can f--- your hearing if you take them with a ruptured drum. Props to that guy who gave them to me even though I told him I was concerned and convinced my eardrum is ruptured. Good thing I was so worried about losing my hearing I Googled all this s--- on my own.

Everything is cool now. No hearing still out of it, but no pain. I'm on the right medications after visits to 3 different clinicians. I feel a lot less worried now.

The moral of the story is to not use q-tips after a shower and use a hair dryer to make them s----s dry. This was a terrible ordeal to suffer for not doing that lol.

So I got a cough a week or two ago. A lot of people around me have been dealing with them. Eventually it spread to my ear, so now I've got a middle ear infection trapping fluid behind my ear drum. It's pretty terrible. My hearing is muffled. I have to constantly blow air with my mouth/nose closed to equalize the pressure or my ear drum stretches. Quite painful. I'm on some antibiotics and am constantly supplementing them with benadryl/ibuprofen/mucinex, but beyond some surgery, this is just a waiting game.

    tl;dr me irl

Unless my hearing is permanently damaged. In which case I might take a toaster bath

Sux, I remember on a trip to California I had a cold and the sonic/air pressure f----- me up and I had a brief encounter with this symptom. Certainly not fun stuff, no greater relief when you finally can hear

I've seen two doctors and neither even seriously entertained the idea. I've had swimmer's ear before. This is definitely a different beast.

    Thanks, man. Appreciate the concern.

After a flight once one of my ears didn't pop back for whatever reason for like a week - I never realized how much of a difference being deaf in one ear makes. Severely underestimated it. One of the most annoying scenarios I've ever been in.
