You're too stuck on the fact that I brought up a race or a demographic, what I was conveying was the fact that people with children and individuals in the black community, are going to feel the album and that transcends any music theory arguements and all that extra BS. You asked the question how anyone could disagree with the review and I'm giving you the reason, it's because the people that Cole is truly trying to reach could give 2 s----s about some dude that gives it a 6/10. Even if he gave the album a 10/10, I still wouldn't care, I don't need someone's words to affirm the way music makes me feel

    it's not dumb.
    it's called being relatable.

I live with my GF for a while now, I'm 100% feeling foldin clothes more than someone who is not living with their girl.

Someone who has a kid and is married and has a friend killed before 30 is definitely feeling this album more than I.

For me, this is cole's most mature album. He barely talks about the rap game or random hoes; and most of the the time I like most of the songs.

However, I feel the change and neighbors sequence deserve a more befitting project that plays to their strengths. When I listen to those songs (especially) I am reminded of dreamville feature cole (see any bas feature cole song), ROTD and folgers crystal. That version of cole raps with an ease that escapes the pressure of expectation that comes on album.

Album cole is too focused on conveying emotion and creating a narrative/ story arch. I like foldin clothes but not after neighbors.

Prolly not, I had to use words confirmed classic. It's more like 8.5 for me. I love every song on this album except Ville Mentality, and Neighbors is decent. Best Cole album by a mile. And nope, I ain't changing my mind in a month or two.

even tho i look at that track as just some fun s---, the scrutiny he gives it is accurate. The album is very dense and is supposed to be from his friends point of view. But it just kinda comes outta nowhere after a song that doesnt fit the narrative which is neighbors.

exactly, its all reminiscent of old stuff but not to the point where its stale or "oh look more of the same from cole" ...

after FHD a lot of us were worried, "what is cole going to rap about now" ... but he did a good job here tackling new themes reminscent of old ones in similar ways or old themes in different ways ... i don't even know which scenario is more right lol, i guess it depends on the songs ... but you get what I'm saying haha, he advanced sonically, emotionally, lyrically but theres still so much stuff that reminds you of his old s---, and not old s--- like cold world/born sinner but rather mixtape s--- like warm up/fnl which is what everyone has been waiting for from cole since he's started dropping albums

one cool thing i wanna mention quick tho is how vital some of the background vocals are, one of the reasons why this is really first and foremost a headphone album (cause u don't even hear some of these things if u not listening with headphones) ...

one of these times is in the background of ville mentality hook

u can hear the cliche rap statement ("can't stop won't stop") in the background of the hook ... "can't stop now, won't stop now" ... technically used for people saying "they can't stop won't stop hustling" ... which is also true in this case but he's more using it to say the street guy (and also cole) "can't stop won't stop" having the ville mentality

its like he's saying "can't stop now, won't stop now" hustling hard to make it, but then also that once use made it u still have that mentality and "can't/won't stop" having that mentality

i don't see how people can not appreciate she's mine

i understand saying "its not some s--- i will listen to all the time"

but you at least should recognize and appreciate that its two great songs and a great concept and extremely well-done musically

i finally realized the TRUE main purpose of Folding Clothes tho y'all ...

think about it, right after folding clothes comes she's mine part 2 and his daughter being born

cole trying to tell us that after you start folding clothes with/for a girl comes a baby lol
