paints the social aspects of the characters in a less dense way than the previous track, so it helps with character development.

Not much, I don't really master my beats, I mix them only. I usually use pre-mixed sounds and then adjust if needed. I could do better, but I really don't have time to master and go in detail cause a normal ear can't really tell it's a bigger difference. Plus it's a beat, not a song, the feeling of the beat matters the most. As long as it sounds good, it's enough.Ordinary Joel, AgentDB7, 2014 Forever Lives JCN and 1 other person like this. -

@2014 Forever Lives JCN could this album be also about Cole and this "James". Like they had the same upbringing in the Ville, but chose different paths, so songs like For Whom the Bell Tolls, Immortal, Ville Mentality is about "James" , Deja Vu and She's mine both parts could be about them both and Neighbors, Changes and Folding Clothes are about Cole with the finale bringing it all together.
I'm talking out my a---, but Cole had a similar song or verse where he's talking about him and this other guy growing up in the Ville, but choosing different paths and ending up differently. Had that songs in my mind while the album was playing (funny thing, can't remember the name of the song)King Simba, Ordinary Joel, Spartan23R and 1 other person like this. -

@Bliss is lowkey right. Like Neighbors the more I hear it but it sounds kinda empty. Change also use a reversed sample but they built so well around that song with other s--- to make it sound fuller. Should have done a bit of the same with Neighbors but I get that the simplicity was what Cole was going for.Ordinary Joel, Bliss, Baja and 1 other person like this. -

Neighbours?
i know ur a producer thats why I'm so surprised ...
don't you think it has a great balance between being super ambient and vibe out yet it still hits hard? i agree it maybe could use an extra element at certain points but i think its meant to be really minimal ...
i was super impressed by the fact its the only beat sole produced by Cole on the album, might be one of his best beats ever if you ask me ... simple yes, but that doesn't mean it can't be goodClick to expand...
and I'm curious to know whats ur thoughts on immortal as a producer
dont you think that one could hit much harder ?Click to expand...King Simba, Ordinary Joel, IZZO and 1 other person like this. -

there was a song called "swing my way" and "real niggaz" on the album before, if i understand correctly from the Eyez documentary (4:00) and from the sounds of it they were uptempo songs ...
i wonder why he cut them cause thats exactly what i felt was missingClick to expand...JC9, Ordinary Joel, Spartan23R and 1 other person like this. -

i just don't get why Cole was vibing so much to the song at 25:15 so much and then its not on the album
from what i hear that song actually would have filled the gap which i feel with the albumOrdinary Joel, J.T., Nav Bhatia and 1 other person like this. -

This album gets better everyday I listen to it.
This is Cole's top 2 project (including mixtapes), maybe his best after I listen more.
Initially I said I wouldn't be listening to this everyday, but I can't help it, this s--- too dope.JLim51, Ordinary Joel, Feeps and 1 other person like this. -

Lol people really using the aux cord test to define whether music is good or not. f--- your homies in the whip that's not what Coles music is about its about you in your zone in your own whip or headphones. Immortal and Neighbors are as much bangers as Money Treez to me.King Simba, Uncle Luke, NewLegend and 1 other person like this. -

From production to flow, to storytelling, I think you could argue that Neighbors is the best song on this album.2014 Forever Lives JCN, Spartan23R, Equis and 1 other person like this.
