Gonna give this a listen tomorrow.
I enjoyed Cole World, Born Sinner and Forest Hill Drive, but I skipped 4YEO after skimming through it. It just didn't captivate me in ways that his other albums have.
    Hopefully this will.

FHD was GKMC with a longer spanning coming of age narrative tbh

I've never seen a more accurate statement in my life.

I've always felt this way about that album

You can definitely hear the Kendrick influence in Cole's more recent music

FHD had similar elements to GKMC
4YEO had similar elements to TPAB
KOD has similar elements to d---

I'm sure he loves Kendrick as a good friend, but he probably gets annoyed when Kendrick get praised to the high heavens and he gets Niquil jokes and every mumble rapper dissing him.

I like KOD so far alot more then 4YEO. 4YEO's was a poor man's TPAB with a half baked concept.

This forum gotta be the most extremist ever. Half love it, half think it's trash. It's worse than FHD and better than 4YEO.
f---, noone should come on this forum to read other people's opinions on music because y'all are biased as f---.
Unless it's Kendrick who we all love.
    Peace.

    This album is amazing IMO

I thought the first 8 tracks were really good and he was killing it but something was lacking it wasn’t his natural delivery and voice and then He went into beast mode

From Brackets 3rd verse on all the verses at the end of the album were amazing, great rhyming, content

The verse on Friends is greatness

Once and Addict verse is greatness

Cole outdid himself and I’m glad he is actually rapping a lot

4YEO and FHD didn’t have enough rapping for me

This is a classic on first 2 listens

The main thing that Cole's always had going for him is his skill as a producer. His best songs are completely carried by the production and vibe he's able to create. This album fails at that because he's trying to make the soundcloud version of Migos beats mixed with TBAP/d--- lite, which makes literally every track here feel derivative of something much more interesting.

And when the production isn't center stage you're left to focus on his writing, which is literally 12 tracks of "we use addictions to mask pain". Wow. Such wisdom. Tell us more sensei.
