    Despite this, there’s something to say for the seemingly genuine (and completely discordant) tonality when comparing the two tracks. Like That absolutely seethes with contempt and disrespect, while 7 Minute Drill seems WAY too conciliatory to match that energy.

    I think the reason for that is that Cole doesn't have beef with Kendrick. Straight up. I'm sure he's annoyed and confused about why Kendrick's coming at him right now. And it's hiphop, it's competition. Cole's too real to pretend to have beef with someone that he doesn't.

    Cole shot first – he’s too intelligent to be confused about why Kendrick is coming at him now.

    For someone who’s repeatedly calling themselves the GOAT and spitting all these “face of death” type lyrical warnings, this effort makes him come off as fake, not real. It calls all those verses into question.

    If Cole’s truly as confident and competitive as he says he is, he should actually compete.
