Idk if I'll make it to this one but I sure as h--- love this idea. It has to be ages since I heard those Best Of Both Worlds albums, Big Chips was my s--- haha. I love Jays Discography, his evolution from cool hustler to burgeoning rap superstar to CEO Hov is one of the genre's greatest stories.

I've heard good things about the first Jay / Kelly album. The second one? Not so much.

7pm EST would be fine for me if someone sets up a stream for it.
My phone doesn't have enough space to download Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint, and the other Jay albums Apple Music doesn't have any more.
Although I'm a fan of both Jay and R. Kelly, I never listened to their projects together.
Not going to bother with Collision Course though.

This is a great idea though. I love listening sessions like this.

Everything after his "retirement" is kinda weak except American Gangster. Everything before that is pretty much essential

I have to admit I could never get that emotionally invested into jay-z's music for some reason. like obviously he's an incredible rapper but I can't quite shake the feeling that he's constantly trying to sell me something/portray a character that's not authentic. and I'm sure I'm in the minority but the rick rubin thing on mchg really rubbed me the wrong way as do most of music related actions post-american gangster. count me in for the listening session up until then tho.

A lot of people feel that with Jay, but I always bought into what he was selling and so I was able to emotionally connect with his music.

Which is funny because his "street" authenticity is actually more legitimate than Big and Pac but people want to do anything to discredit Jay.

i don't mean "street" authenticity i'm talking about using rick rubin in your promo for an album when he didn't touch a single song. it's a slap in the face to longtime listeners when you pull this kind of crap and he's been doing this more and more lately.

You are in the extreme minority if you consider his entire catalogue mediocre.

people who think jay z is middle of the road compared to some other rappers may be a minority, i wouldn't call it extreme though
