So my first lesson in stock trading has taught me that the UK and the US advertise their prices in very different ways!

The UK measures in pennies. Eg, if an individual share costs £5.50 the stock market will advertise it is 550 (550p).
In the US if a share costs $5.50 it will be advertised as 5.50.

I've got used to the UK's way over the years (even though it's f---ing stupid) so you can imagine my disappointment when I was going to drop £200 on Google shares to find out one individual share would cost me over $1000.

Now I've got to either way another 3 or 4 months until my trading account has enough money in it to buy one individual share or I go back to the drawing board and start my research all over again to find another company to invest in .

I'm currently using the Trading 212 app. Seems to offer everything I need and there's no trading fees if you trade less than 10x a month.

There is one specific stock I want to invest in though which they don't have for sale.

Good for you!

I have about £20k tied up in stocks and shares but I play the long game. Dividends are a big deciding factor. In the world of Covid, a lot of companies risk going bust or have cut th or dividends. 2020 has caused my net worth to drop by about 25%. f--- this year.
