Dec 15, 2014 On The Wall - Your quality is dope. The mix is clean. Song has the energy of a Jeezy or Gorilla Zoe track. Nothing really separates it from the pack of "hit single" type songs tbh, but it's definitely not sloppy. Songs like this need something special to stick with me. Then again, I'm not really your demographic in the first place. Drug Step - I've heard this beat or sample somewhere so that kind of bothers me. Your vocals a tad bit buried on here? I'm straining just a tiny bit to listen closely. Might be these Bose phones though. Hard to mix with every system in mind. The chorus is kind of lazy. Like the last track, it's really just a "catch phrase chorus" which is a party single staple, but it doesn't have any effects to distract me this time. The feature delivers. Overall, I feel like you could switch the verses between these songs and I wouldn't notice bar it being off beat. They're well made, but a bit lacking in the creativity department. I assume I'll like album cuts more, because I usually due.
Dec 15, 2014 @CharlieWork thanks for the in depth reviews. as far as drug step, that was produced by dirty f and he posted the beat back on SL so you might've heard it there maybe? the mixing on my vocals for drug step are cruelly a bit drained. I went overboard a bit with the mixing and sort of destroyed my vocals to some extent. there's maybe two-three more tracks with this vibe. rest of the tape has a more old school rap vibe, similar to my Michelangelo EP.
Dec 15, 2014 I'm in love with the drug step cover art hahah that had me rolling the first time i saw it
Dec 15, 2014 Agree with everyone on the covers. All three are dope. I really like both tracks. Right now I would say I like On The Wall a little more, but I think Drug Step has the potential to be better. I would agree the mixing on Drug Step is just a little off because it takes away from your vocals a bit, and I think the chorus could be a little bigger. Which could also just be the mix. Overall really like both tracks though and looking forward to the rest. Lyrics are on point with both.
Dec 15, 2014 the f---? on the wall is f---ing dope!!! my n----- that's hiiii power shots upon shots 1 minor thing though, the volume seems kinda low? like if I played a song off youtube/itunes it'd be normal/loud volume, but when i play these I had to turn up? throw me on your mention list too if there's one.
Dec 15, 2014 yeah, product of my poverty mastering lol that should all be up to par whenever the project drops though.
Dec 15, 2014 ah k thought so. my mate has just started rapping and he has the same problem sometimes. but hey, if you can make a song this good with pov equipment or w/e then when you actually are in a studio you'll be cooking up some f---ing crazy s---. voice/flow remind me of jay rock btw.
Dec 15, 2014 I enjoy both of these, however I agree with everyone else about the mixing. It could definitely take the tracks up to the next level with better mixing. Looking forward to the tape, and the covers are on point
Dec 18, 2014 really feeling these tracks, drug step's probably my favorite of the two. the cover looks awesome, looking forward to the rest of the album
