There are things saw fans may not like though..I didn't feel it was as brutal as far as violence goes as most of the other ones, little more tame. Overall the traps aren't really the best tbh. In a way I liked the ending, in a way I didn't..probably shouldn't explain what I mean here yet.

With it's flaws there are some great moments that make it all worth it though imo.

is it better than 4, 5 & 7? did you find the same spirit or soul (i don't know what word to choose) that made every Saw film so weirdly cool?

It's hard for me to compare it to the original 7 right now cuz this one was definitely different...But I do agree with you that 4, 5 and 7 were the worst 3 of the originals. I might even need to see this new one again, a couple things still don't make sense to me.

Without giving anything away, part of the movie really made this worth while to me, the rest was done pretty well story wise, traps weren't as good as some of the other saws imo..but the victims who were chosen had done worse things than in most previous movies imo.

Gonna post my spoiler related thoughts tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah I mean, it's worth it overall, definitely had some issues with it though. I'm curious to hear your thoughts after.

Honestly I'm happy. I was only a little upset with one part but I'm impressed.

i was so confused when John was there all of a sudden with the new characters, liked how they did that though, nice time twist. i didn't care much for the ending but I did like how they connected Logan with it all, and he makes sense as the apprentice..going forward I wouldn't mind him being the guy..

what's the one part you were upset with?

His reveal as the apprentice seemed underwhelming. I don't know, just the way he acted or revealed himself... felt like a lite-version of the Hoffman reveal in Saw IV.

also I know people were scared about Ryan's character but I loved him.

so didn't someone take down Logan when he and Eleanor were trying to run off near the end? doesn't that mean he had another helper for sure? also I loved how they teased so many different people being the apprentice throughout it all lol...

    I saw it!
I thought it was very similar to Saw IV, both in terms of quality (imo 1>2>3>6>8>4>7>5) and storylines (heavily centered on cops, one cop is actually the criminal they're looking for, "this happened way sooner than you first thought" twist ending...). Obviously there was a bit of Saw 3D in the spirit too, but Jigsaw did such a better job at exploring the "legacy" theme throughtout that there's not much more to the comparison.
Kinda disappointed that John isn't alive though. I would have loved them to go full unrealistic and resurrect him for a new series because no successor will ever have this presence again.
Overall really cool, but traps and ending were kinda underwhelming

I think the simple traps made sense. they are supposed to be among the first few traps John ever put together... pre-Saw. So it's more realistic that they'd be simpler. except the spiralizer one that one's f---ing giant lol

I agreed with Zeug’s points about the traps and the ending but then rapmuzik brought up a real good point bout the traps and changed my mind.

Still agree bout the ending though, definitely underwhelming compared to every other saw ending except maybe 5. With that said the ending made sense and is a good spot to start going forward, just didn’t have the ‘holy s---’ impact some of the others had.

Thinking of seeing it again this weekend, kinda got a different perspective on stuff than I had before based off reading other people’s thoughts and thinking more bout how this movie fits.

the original jigsaw died at the end of saw 3, the guy taking over at the end of this didn’t die though, no.
