Jun 27, 2017 Because most people who are indulged in the music industry and that are highly recognized (critics/artists) would tell you Young Thug is better than Crooked I easy. That's not exactly a hot take nor is it debatable. Young Thug makes much better music than Crooked I. We're comparing an artist who Elton John compared to John Lennon to another artist who's widely recognized as a one-trick pony. I'm just using Crooked I as an example though. Joe just shows a higher regard to rappers from his generation in general. I mean Em's been releasing s--- music for years and he still calls him a genius lol.
Jun 27, 2017 I mean.... do you really think Young Thug v. Crooked I is debatable? I chose that because it's a pretty straight forward choice or at least it should be. If we were to change it to Young Thug v. Kendrick Lamar then there could be a legitimate debate there.
Jun 27, 2017 There is no "should". Like I said I fw them for different reasons. Crook wins in layered lyrical skill and MC ability/agility and Thug wins in melody, vibe and sound. If MCing means nothing to you then of course it's not debatable, Thug makes catchier songs. But there are people (like me) who appreciate both kinds of musician. Depends what you're into. They are both geniuses at their craft I'm just not willing to say one craft is better than the other, they're different.

Jun 27, 2017 Well see.... this is why we disagree lol. we just approach music differently. I stopped critiquing artists by their flow, lyrics, rhyming etc. when I was like 16. It's just not a good way to evaluate music or artists. Young Thug just makes better/more enjoyable music than Crooked I. Crooked I had some talent but he's a one-trick pony who uses double-time flow and multis to impress teenagers who are just getting into hip-hop. His style works well with freestyling but when it comes to crafting actually songs -- they tend to have no substance. His writing isn't compelling. His songs tend to sound like scribble jam recordings -- just a bunch of rap battle bars. The bolded phrase was the entirety of my argument lol. Thanks for agreeing with me. Idk why you quoted me if we're clearly on the same page.
