Oct 31, 2018 Like i said, nothing like hopsin or tech. This s--- reminds me more of Kanye than anybody else.
Oct 31, 2018 I really don't see it sorry bro. Tell me what it is that's corny about him? I know he's half white but what else?? He raps fast so that makes him corny?? Does he dress like a nerd? Not since I last checked. Is his subject matter corny? f--- no, he touching on some real s---. Literally ya'll desperately seem to wanna hate on this dude an I cant see why other than the Eminem association (which automatically spawns hate I suppose). He might not be the most genius lyricist ever born, but he's about a million times better lyrically than all your favourite leaned out rappers that you seem to have no problem with who actually are literally trash lyrically, but because the beats are fire and they got more swag, and the chorus kinda catchy, then they get a pass.
Oct 31, 2018 "[but because they make better music], then they get a pass" Yes, that's how it works lol
Oct 31, 2018 why EVERY rapper that actually spitting bars and have crazy technicality gets hated or overlooked nowadays? Joyner is awesome, stop hating for no reason. Like would you rather listento tekashi, pump, lil uzi and migos over Joyner?
Oct 31, 2018 If you want melody and proper singing why aren't you listening to pop?? Why you wasting your time with inaudible auto tune rap with subpar lyricism?
Oct 31, 2018 I can hear and understand what they're saying just fine I still can't believe people are using this in a derogatory tone in 2018. it accents their voice and sounds cool if used correctly...I don't see a problem with it Subjective. Words are words. I do occasionally listen to pop, but I'm way more open to turning the rap genre into something that actually sounds good instead of a genre filled with audiobooks backed by hi-hats idk
Oct 31, 2018 Rapping fast =/= Having "technical" ability I think his writing dramatically lacks originality tbh
Oct 31, 2018 So basically you want to devolve and dumb down the technical/lyrical aspect of the whole genre and compromise it's very foundations because it will make it more appealing and easy listening for you??? Thank f--- you don't run the world.
Oct 31, 2018 He's okay. His verse on lucky u was gr8 until he started that fast s---, I just don't really like it. It can be 'impressive' I guess but not a fan. The song a few posts above sounds pretty dope ngl
Oct 31, 2018 Joyner is hot trash. And thats not because he doesnt use autotune or have glossy production. The thing is he IS an incredibly gifted technician. Nobody's denying that. I've listened to his music, he's got a great flow, he's a great lyricist and writes tight, complex raps. s---, I could say the same for Hopsin. But so what? Kool G Rap was technically impressive. f---in Canibus was technically impressive. Rappers have been technically impressive since the 80's. But the thing about these kinds of rappers is that their context is f-----. They sound bitter and completely out of touch complaining about rappers that are more successful than them and are for the most part just making fun music. Show off your technical skills, thats great. But stop insisting that the natural evolution of hip hop is somehow damaging to the culture, that rappers who are actually innovating and moving the genre forward are somehow the problem.Hip hop isnt some static thing stuck in 1996. Why would anyone want that? In the case of Joyner, I really appreciate that he tries to take on interesting topics but his I'm Not Racist song for example is so shallow and short sighted I can't even listen to it. He approaches such a complex topic with the subtlety of a chainsaw. How anyone can listen to that song and think its actually deep and clever is beyond me.
Oct 31, 2018 again, "devolve and dumb down the technical/lyrical aspect" is subjective. You can't put metrics on what makes a song "lyrical" or "smart". I'm not promoting a stance that every artist should make songs like Gucci g---, but I'd much rather have future generations look up to Future and Young Thug (artists that actually evolve the genre) than f---ing Joyner Lucas lmfao
Oct 31, 2018 Do you not think this is a shallow take on the race debate? its such a complex issue and he's trying to present it as 2 equal sides, when its obviously not. dont you think maybe the race debate deserves at least a little more critical thought?
Oct 31, 2018 No, because you have to dumb it down for people to understand, which is exactly what he did. Em was a little more complex and completely went over people's heads and got dismissed because of "Delivery"....
Oct 31, 2018 His bank account aint complaining, nor is Hopsins. Meanwhile you are trying to get out of an overdraft, chill bruh, and get back to work
Oct 31, 2018 The good ol “He’s rich so like, u can’t criticize him cuz it means nothing...cuz he’s rich” argument. Perhaps one of the biggest cop out arguments of all time.
