i'm not saying you can't understand him legitimately if you want to, but understanding him is hidden behind that delivery, which if you're just zoning out and listening it sounds like a crackhead yelling gibberish half the time cause of the way he says s---. it can be pretty jarring and it doesn't make for a pleasant listen imo, and i feel like his versatility is like... an exception, not the rule with dannys delivery

like, i could never see myself playing danny brown out loud in front of anyone else who wasn't already familiar with him and how he sounds because it'd be kind of embarrassing. they would definitely think i was listening to some random dude rapping in another language, or that it was a joke, or he's straight up yelling gibberish

i could give a f--- about his writing

and it's the least appealing thing about music to me, i care about how it sounds

zoning out not probably the right word. i'm js, unless i'm purposefully paying attention to what he's trying to say, it just seems like yelled gibberish half the time and i can't vibe to his music generally as a result cause I'm distracted af by his delivery

eh, none of the electronic stuff i really like is what i'd call particularly jarring, and even when it is... it's not usually jarring for the runtime of the song or albums worth of jarring

and i'm not saying i hate danny brown cause of this or anything, cause i don't, i have Old already and like a decent amount of what I've heard of it. I'm just saying in general, despite my like for any of his work, this is how he comes off imo

he's just... strange to listen to. like for example, i go back and forth on whether or not i love this feature by him or think it ruins the latter half of the song entirely


i don't know how to reconcile with an artist like that

I definitely disagree with Danny being on the cover. While he does dabble in pill bars he also has deep, introspective tracks as well. He's versatile in that respect.
