    Well in a world where rap is more popular and diverse than ever, the newbies to rap will likely be focused on the more popular rappers. Since Eminem left enough of an impact through his early discography his name still gets thrown around a lot, so people research him. Through this research it's likely they will find his more recent songs where he's got the new choppy flow, leading to that being their main opinion and no further.

    Makes sense that he should get bashed for his later work, but I imagine too many of the 'newbies' to rap wouldn't research his discog a whole lot.
