Dec 5, 2024 I'm gonna go ahead and start crafting mine, 14 b-----r songs I gotta compile. I know we said we are not gonna judge off being a "concise" mixtape but I like the challenge of trying to make some favorites work off each other
Dec 5, 2024 I wasn't expecting a yes but thanks for making me go first! I'll definitely hold you to it lol.
Dec 5, 2024 I just dont wanna derail it plus I like seeing the different albums lol and you won't need to remind me I'll remember
Dec 5, 2024 So would we send a link to a playlist or do we send the tracklist and everyone makes the playlist on their own
Dec 5, 2024 Even though I mostly use Apple Music I’ll likely make these playlists on my Spotify account because sharing s--- from Apple Music sucks
Dec 5, 2024 Id say link on whatever streaming app you use, and then also post a screen shot of your playlist so everyone can find the songs if they don't use that streaming service. Anyways we can figure this out in a few weeks, ill post an outline of what I think first week of January and if you guys have anything you wanna add or do I'll throw it on there. Sound good?
Dec 5, 2024 I’m gonna struggle to not put a ton of clairo songs on it. I’ll try to keep it to only a few. Listening right now.
Dec 6, 2024 Not having to DL is pretty cool lmao. I still will DL s--- I love though I want to own it. Started your album @jankland the first tracks really remind me of Simple Plan somehow
Dec 6, 2024 Hot Mulligan- Why Would I Watch When you simply don't like an album, thats kinda fine. But it sucks if you see/hear a lot of potential, but it's hard to get into it. See, I generally do like this type of music. But from the first song, the thing the singer does, screaming one random word in a sentence... it annoyed the f--- out of me. And the problem is, he keeps this delivery for almost the whole album. On 'Betty' he doesn't but to me its a little too short to really have replay value. But it does show that the guy can sing without it. 'This song is called' also starts out really well, but then it switched up unfortunately. The song that came really close for me is 'Smack My Head' (written a little differently I know). Halfway I thought this was gonna be the one. But the last minute that song changes too. The music, his singing in general I really do like. My issues with the delivery isn't even an objective criticism obviously. It's an unique delivery that either is to your liking or it isn't. And sadly I can't into it. At least after one listen. I do find it a bit frustrating though because if that didn't bother me it would have been a 8/10 album. For now it's a 6/10 for me. Dope and interesting pick though! @jankland @AOTWClub
Dec 7, 2024 at 12:07 AM Glad you gave it a shot and found some stuff to enjoy out of it! As much as I like the screaming I do also hope they veer into some more songs with clean vocals on future projects because I think Tades and the other singer Chris (he mostly does backing on this album he has some songs as a solo vocalist on other projects) still have pretty good voices for the genre when they're not in super angst mode. Couple examples that you might enjoy more:
Dec 7, 2024 at 2:02 AM I still love the quirky song titles. XXXTENTACION used to do that too. I would probably name some songs like that too. I guess it’s a gen z thing
Dec 7, 2024 at 2:44 AM A lot of the emo/punk/hardcore scene have had the tradition of extremely long winded and/or silly song titles for a long time, idk what started it or if it's just meant as a funny juxtaposition to subject matter but it's always fun where there's a good one. X seemed into the scene somewhat from the little I know so I wouldn't be surprised if that was another part of the influence for sure
