May 28, 2024 I’m gonna try to listen to the J Hus album by Tuesday night then give a second listen Wednesday or something. I’d like to try to give all these albums at least 2 listens, although it’s taken albums more listens than that to grow on me before. If I already like the album there won’t be much growing to do though. I like to get these albums done early in the week so I can focus on New Music Friday, especially with Eminem potentially dropping something this Friday
May 28, 2024 Never mind, I just now gave the album a listen instead of waiting for Tuesday night. All I’ll say right now is I can’t wait for a second listen.
May 28, 2024 J Hus - Big Conspiracy: I hadn't even heard of J Hus before Hargy recommended the record, so this was a new discovery for me. Aside from a few Skepta singles/features I haven't listened to many British rappers (21 Savage doesn't count), so this was a pretty good intro. I really dug the instrumentals (I listen to a lot of dancehall so they really appealed to me), and I thought J Hus rapped pretty well. I enjoyed the album overall, and I'll probably heck out his 2023 album at some point. Fav Tracks: Play Play, Cucumber, Reckless, Must Be Overall Rating: 7/10
May 29, 2024 J Hus - Big Conspiracy RATING: 7/10 FAVORITE SONG: Triumph HONORABLE MENTIONS: Play Play, Reckless, No Denying, One and Only THOUGHTS: I don’t have a ton to say but what I do have to say is good things. This album got me dancing like crazy. Triumph is a f---ing vibe. The album is a dope and easy listen to put on while gaming, working, exercising, driving, etc. When you do pay closer attention, there’s some interesting a--- lyrics. That whole second verse of Triumph gotta be one of the best on the album. I love this section: @AOTWClub
May 29, 2024 I’m glad some of you are enjoying the album. A good selection of different songs in people’s favourites too!
May 29, 2024 I got through a good portion of it the other night, really solid album. Gonna give it a couple listens today before posting my review tonight or Thursday morning
May 29, 2024 J Hus: Big Conspiracy Review Favorite Tracks: helicopter, fight for your right, deeper than rap , one and only Least Favorite Tracks: Repeat, Fortune Teller Overall summary: Wasnt sure what to expect, had no idea who "J Hus" was. Also had never listened to a full UK rap album. Right off the hop I enjoyed his sound on the first few tracks so was very intrigued to get through the album, also whoever "icee tgm" is sounds great on the choruses of the first few songs. I love the production throughout the album, lots of great beats. Not all the songs are my cup of tea, but I do appreciate his flow and lyrics on all of them. I really don't like "repeat" itll be the only song I skip when I come back to this album in the future. Overall I enjoyed this album especially the more i listened to it, great pick @hargydon. Was excited when you posted someone id never heard of before. I feel like with my rankings I'm gonna be a bit tough, I gave "cilvia demo" a 7/10 and enjoyed it a bit more so I'm gonna give this a 6.5/10 @AOTWClub
May 29, 2024 If you read between the lines you realize he uses the word "some" because he doesn't like that others are enjoying the album
May 30, 2024 Standouts: Helicopter, Fight For Your Right, Triumph, Repeat, No Denying, Deeper Than Rap Skips: (none, not that I LOVE all the songs but none of them were bad/boring enough for me to consider them skips tbh) Best Features: iceè tgm, Koffee Score: 7/10 Final Thoughts: idk if this is what bri'ish rap usually sounds like but it was my introduction to it, very enjoyable project to listen to while doing something else, it has different sounds such as some dancehall sounding s--- that was catchy as f--- and I liked the drill track that's on it as well. @AOTWClub
May 30, 2024 I was taking a risk choosing a Bri ish rap album to people outside of the country, but @icecube suggestion prompted me to switch up my choice. I thought this album best suited the mood, & was light enough on vibe & accent to not throw you guys off too much but also give you an insight into some of the sounds coming out of here. I’m glad everyone has been open minded enough to listen & enjoy it to some extent! My country’s rap music is severely underrated imo.
May 30, 2024 J Hus: Big Conspiracy Review Favorite: Big Conspiracy, Helicopter, Fight for Your Right, No Denying Least favorite: Play Play, Cucumber, Fortune Teller Album started off strong with those 2 first songs. Some of the Dance tracks mid way through brought the quality down for me. ''No Denying'' was a b-----r. Overall smooth listen and good production. Saved for re-listen as there are still some songs i'm unsure if i wanna discard or keep. 7.2 @AOTWClub
May 30, 2024 I was gonna mention something similar but for me it's the opposite. I enjoy this one more than Clive Demo. Gave this one a 7.2 cause I gave Clive a 7. But I should've rated them 6.5 and 7 respectively. Sounds tough like you said, but I feel like once you get passed that 7.5 or 8 mark. That will be reserved for albums i really love. Not just part of it. I'm sticking with my rankings though
May 30, 2024 Ya agreed I feel like anything over a 6 is a likeable album for me. I didn't love all the songs for either album but I liked over half of them so they were both good albums just not something I love. Still added a good portion of each to my big playlist. My one playlist had like 5000 songs lol
